Description:
Plan Accounting is part of PGIM and acts as a shared service providing operations and systems support to PGIM, Prudential Retirement and to a limited extent, Group Insurance.  Support pertains to the investment products and services purchased by institutional clients who are retirement plan sponsors.  Plan Accounting is located in Newark, NJ.
 
The Investment Operations Accounting Associate position is part of the 15 person Client Reporting Team within Plan Accounting Operations.
 
The unit’s client base consists of over 1400 defined benefit pension plan clients.  The role of the client reporting team is to support the reporting related needs of these institutional investors. The team prepares and reviews client statements, analyzes and reports investment performance data and provides overall operations support to Prudential Sales associates and relationship managers.
 
 
Responsibilities:
  • Providing our institutional clients with Asset & Investment reports, which include: market and book values, net investment income, transaction information, investment performance data, etc.
  • Preparing regulatory reports required by the Department of Labor
  • Gathering and calculating index (benchmark) returns for inclusion in monthly and quarterly financial statements
  • Analyzing investment performance data to ensure reporting accuracy
  • Compiling and analyzing specialized reports, which present a client’s summarized historical cash flow information
  • Monitoring and communicating clients’ funding needs based on recent and projected transaction activity
  • Responding to ad-hoc requests from Client Service Representatives and Auditors
  • Researching and verifying transactions in our proprietary accounting and reporting system
  • Interacting with other groups within Plan Accounting for fund valuation, transaction processing, management fee booking, as well as systems counterparts for technical collaboration
  • Additional project work may include: transaction reconciliations, database creation/maintenance, development of new reporting processes, and various application/systems integration tasks

 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting or Business related strongly preferred
  • Ability to understand and analyze basic accounting principles and financial statements
  • PC proficiency, specifically Microsoft Excel and Word
  • The ideal candidate is motivated, confident, enjoys being challenged and works well individually and in a team-based environment
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and work in a deadline oriented and fast-paced environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to deal with associates at all levels within the organization
