Description:

Investment Risk Management (IRM) is a group within Enterprise Risk Management that oversees the risk profile of Prudential’s general account and other global proprietary investments through in-house analysis and partnerships with asset managers and the Chief Investment Office.  IRM is responsible for developing and reporting limits, capital modeling, governance, and board reporting for assets and transactions with credit, equity, and counterparty risk. The group interfaces across the enterprise on various topics including potential new transactions, scenario analysis, and regulatory and governance issues as a trusted partner and depends on a culture of collaboration to effectively solve complex and interesting challenges.

 

Within IRM, the Modeling & Analysis team focuses on the design and development of quantitative methods of credit analysis. There is a large emphasis on ad-hoc analytical projects, which typically span a wide variety of subjects and require flexible thinking in creating solutions. The ability to simultaneously exercise good analytical judgment as well as to explain complex subjects to the less quantitatively inclined is crucial for the success of the team.

 

Associate will be responsible for leading and contributing to a diverse array of projects that the Modeling & Analysis team may encounter. These will involve interacting with many large historical datasets concerning corporate credit through SQL and developing models from scratch that are grounded in the historical data. Associate will also help design and implement quantitative techniques to sift through large amounts of available data to uncover shifts in credit markets in real-time. Also in scope will be the enhancement of current internal and vendor models for new purposes such as scenario testing and extracting credit rating migration. Associate will be involved in all aspects of modeling and analysis lifecycle, including initial design, prototype development, engagement with business partners, and documentation

 


·         Required: Bachelor’s degree in quantitative field, Master’s degree preferred

·         Expertise in credit modeling. Experience with single-issuer PD models as well as portfolio credit models such as RiskFrontier or CDO/CLO models highly desired

·         5-7 years of relevant work experience

·         Expertise in Excel, SQL, and statistical software such as R

·         Ability to constructively challenge the status quo

·         Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team

·         Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain complex models in business terms
