Description:

Risk Strategy Senior Associate will be responsible for coordinating the development and implementation of the Company's Risk Appetite Framework (RAF). The RAF provides a comprehensive assessment of Prudential's Risk Profile and Risk Capacity, using reserves, capital and liquidity as common metrics. The RAF integrates risk across risk types, businesses, and under stresses through time.  This aids senior management and the Board in making well informed business decisions. 

During the development phase, the Senior Associate will work on refining the RAF as necessary and on integrating the metrics that were independently developed. The Senior Associate will be responsible for ongoing monitoring and communication of the enterprise RAF metrics and for developing a coherent approach to monitoring risk, including comprehensive analysis/understanding by business and legal entity, strategy, potential impact on capital/economic value, and management criteria (RAF limits, trigger points, exit strategy, etc.).

The Senior Associate will work closely with Treasurer’s, CIO, Finance and capital and liquidity planning functions (and other groups as appropriate).  The associate should have a good understanding on the firm’s different business and the related economics.  The associate should also have industry experience and is expected to be the subject matter expert in one or more specific skill set, business area or product.  At this level, the associate should be fully knowledgeable on the day to day activities of product / process, however, will required input on more complex issues.

The associate will be responsible for leading and contributing to a diverse array of special projects with application across the Company, as necessary.  There is a large emphasis on ad-hoc analytical projects, which typically span a wide variety of subjects and require flexible thinking in creating solutions.  In addition, there are tasks necessary to support our needs under the new regulatory framework. The ability to simultaneously exercise good analytical judgment as well as to explain complex subjects to the less quantitatively inclined is crucial for the success of the team.

Associate may have management responsibilities for a small team, or may have manager responsibilities for a product or process.

 


Bachelor’s degree (preferably in quantitative field), Master’s degree preferred, CFA preferred

5-7 years of relevant work experience

Ability to constructively challenge the status quo

Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team

Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain complex models in business terms
