Pfizer's Global Financial Solutions (GFS) Shared Services is a well-established operation with beginnings in Memphis, Tenn., in 1997. The organization expanded to Europe in 2003, Asia in 2007, Latin America in 2013, Eastern Europe in 2014 and AfME in 2016. GFS Shared Services has a workforce of more than 1,000 Pfizer colleagues, in addition to a successful partnership with a Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) partner, Genpact, in one location globally.

The GFS Shared Services Center (SSC) for the Latin America Region (LAR) is a high performing team responsible for the timely delivery of standardized financial processes on behalf of Biopharmaceutical Finance and their business partners for the Emerging Markets. The organization performs certain Record-to-Report, Invoice-to-Pay, Travel & Entertainment, Credit-to-Cash and other related activities from regionally centralized locations in San Jose, Costa Rica

This role will be responsible for the management of the Invoice to Pay activities inclusive Account Payable, Travel and Entertainment including Oversight, Authorized Signature List (ASL) CoE and Supply Chain Financing for the markets supported by the Latin America Regional GFS SSC. The objective of this role is to lead and enable the Invoice to Pay GFS San Jose team to partner with the Biopharmaceuticals and PGS Finance organizations across the globe as well as other areas of GFS to ensure that business objectives are sufficiently met. The role will be a member of the Site Senior Leadership Team and will have responsibilities in accordance with this.


+ Leadership and Management of the LAR GFS SSC Invoice to Pay (I2P) function, responsible for operational performance and providing strategic guidance and direction to the function

+ Full operational responsibility for the Invoice to Pay, Travel and Entertainment, ASL CoE and Supply Chain Financing function to ensure all deliverables are successfully achieved including operational performance, people management and development and adhering to compliance requirements together with supporting and implementing on transformation requirements

+ Establish, grow and lead the Invoice to Pay GFS-San Jose organization

+ Develop and translate the vision and strategy of Invoice to Pay from a systems, process, policy and procedures perspective.

+ Review performance metric dashboards to ensure that resources across assigned teams are properly utilized and implement improvement initiatives accordingly.

+ Challenging the status quo and championing new ideas

+ Promote the use of preferred procurement methods and work closely with Pfizer Global Sourcing group to identify areas of opportunity for savings

+ Designing and implementing ways to streamline and standardize operations, which includes creating metrics for success.

+ Act as a Business Partner to the Global GFS organization, market FD's and other business stakeholders. Playing a key role in the development of global financial processes and enhancing the capacity of the Invoice to Pay group.

+ Understanding the functionality, interfaces and interdependencies of Pfizer's financial processes and systems, and ensuring the existence of adequate internal controls.

+ Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement and propose innovative solutions so the Invoice to Pay area can operate in an efficient and cost effective manner and achieve targeted budget savings

+ Membership of the GFS SSC senior site leadership team with joint responsibility for managing site-wide operational requirements and leading strategic initiatives as necessary on the GFS LAR Site.

+ Oversee the implementation of complex projects/issues which require experience and significant Invoice to Pay technical abilities. Work collaboratively with business units and others to execute approved projects. Manage integration or project efforts related to acquisitions & divestitures.

+ Maintain complete and accurate standard operating procedures and SOX related internal control documentation

+ Support the Internal and External audits and SOX compliance initiatives

+ Strong accounting, interpersonal, analytical thinking, and organizational skills.

+ SAP, JD Edwards & HFM experience an advantage

Must possess strong leadership skills to lead and motivate teams. . Demonstrated project management skills, with experience in reengineering financial processes including implementation of financial systems and building and managing cross-functional teams is required. International experience in emerging markets highly desired.

Demonstrated effective leadership, negotiating, interpersonal and strategic planning skills necessary to interact, influence and facilitate change with senior management, GFS locations, division management and business unit partners.

Must be able to create a highly energized environment of exceptional performance, shared accountability and personnel excellence, with a commitment to coaching and developing others into leadership roles. Must possess excellent presentation, verbal and written communications skills. Ability to provide a strategic and business perspective including putting the needs of GFS, Finance and the Business Units in context of the larger Pfizer organization. Excellent business acumen to develop effective strategic business partnership with key stakeholders.

Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills. Solid understanding of accounting and finance principles. Demonstrated success in setting and meeting personal and organizational goals, including motivating organization to obtain goals. Must be able to quickly effect change and improvements across GFS SSC- San Jose, multiple Business Units and sites by visualizing, leading design and execution of business practices and processes to bring standardization and minimize complexities.

+ Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance and CPA required

+ Minimum of 10 years of Invoice to Pay experience

+ SAP, JD Edwards & HFM experience an advantage

+ Fluency in English and Spanish Required and Portuguese Desired

+ Public accounting experience desired

+ Management and supervisory experience required.

+ Solid financial background with experience in accounting processes

+ Solid experience of leading change and demonstrates change agility

+ Strong knowledge of business processes supported by transaction processing capabilities

+ Must be able to work independently, capable of handling multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

+ Strong communication, interpersonal, and organization skills required

+ Demonstrated ability to build, lead and manage an effective team of highly qualified and culturally diverse professionals


+ Proficiency in PC skills (MS Excel, Word, Powerpoint) required

+ Demonstrated commitment to education and professional development.

+ Strong organizational skills required to coordinate and manage multiple cross divisional work process and projects.

+ Strong written and verbal skills enabling effective communication with all levels of management

+ Ability to operate independently and remain focused through change or uncertainty.

+ Willingness to travel for meetings and projects.

+ Ability to analytically review and challenge statutory financial statements to ensure completeness, accuracy, adherence to accounting standards etc.

+ SAP, JD Edwards & HFM experience an advantage

+ Demonstrated advanced technical US GAAP and financial reporting knowledge and experience

+ Strong analytical and critical thinking skills

+ Ability to informally and formally develop and influence staff and senior accountants through coaching/mentoring

+ Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and solve problems in an unstructured environment

+ Strong business acumen and professionalism with the ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and operations colleagues in all applicable Pfizer Finance and business functional areas

+ Ability to perform and deliver in areas involving ambiguity
