Position Summary

We are seeking a IT Database Consultant responsible for designing and implementing large OLTP and OLAP DSS databases under moderate supervision on a high availability Unix environment and solutions/platforms including Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) with ASM, Oracle Data Guard, and Veritas Clusters with 24x7 failover. Performs database design, installation, configuration, and maintenance, including upgrades/migrations, patch management, and other database administration activities on Sun Solaris and IBM AIX platforms; implements best practice operations, performance and capacity planning, backup and recovery policies, and disaster recovery setups using Oracle Data Guard; and applies experience in Oracle8i, Oracle9i, Oracle 10g, Oracle 11g, and Oracle 12c, using features/tools including Oracle Streams, RAC, Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c Grid Control, Dataguard, RMAN, ADDM, AWR, Statspack, data pump, Oracle advanced replication, and Unix shell scripting. The IT Database Consultant works with the crisis and disaster management unit, participates in 24x7 on-call rotation, and submits SRs to Oracle Metalink support to resolve Oracle bugs and issues. This position is required to uphold enterprise policy guidelines and recommend new and improved guidelines and partner with project teams as well as interact with customers to find solutions for projects and operational issues for existing and proposed databases. May telecommute from any location within the U.S.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electronics and Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field or related field.
  • 5 years related progressive, post-baccalaureate experience. Will accept experience gained concurrently
  • Must have 12 months demonstrated ability with each of the following: (1) Install, configure, patch, and support Oracle 11g and 12c Restart, Real Application Clusters (RAC), Automatic Storage Management (ASM), and Cluster Ready Services (CRS); (2) Backup and restore Oracle 11g and 12c databases using Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN); (3) Install, configure, patch, and support Oracle data replication tools including Datapump and Oracle 12c Dataguard; (4) Use Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c Grid/Cloud Control to perform basic and advanced day-to-day database administration duties; and (5) Execute and interpret Oracle 11g/12c database diagnostic tools including Automatic Workload Repository (AWR), Automatic Database Diagnostic Monitor (ADDM), Statspack, and SQLTXPLAIN. Employer will accept experience gained concurrently. Candidates are required to pass a drug test before beginning employment.
