As an IT Architecture Support Consultant, you will be part of a small but growing Advanced Technical Support team within Optum's Enterprise Technology Infrastructure and Network Operations division. You will have the opportunity to provide highly technical solutions to very diverse and varied infrastructure issues to ensure efficient network performance.  
 
Primary Responsibilities:

 

  • Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages
  • Gathering and analyzing packet captures to solve complex network / application related issues
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to internal stakeholders on specific IT topics / issues - collaborate with internal leaders and external business partners to gain understanding of their business needs
  • Communicate with impact - influence and negotiate effectively with all internal and external stakeholders to achieve win-win solutions that advance organizational goals
  • Provide leadership, guidance, problem resolution and closing the loop with the NOC
  • Manage and ensure compliance with IT structures / processes / technologies
  • Grow and maintain knowledge of and leverage IT industry / marketplace technologies and trends
  • Participate in vendor stewardship meetings to ensure optimal service delivery
  • Demonstrate integrity and ethical behavior by complying with applicable laws, regulations and policies and requiring the same from others

Required Qualifications:

  • 10 or more years of professional IT experience
  • 5 or more years working in a Network Operational role
  • 2 or more years of experience with packet capturing and analysis tools (i.e.Netscout Infinistream NG1, Wireshark, OpNet )
  • High level of technical competency with Cisco Networking technologies including: Log and Packet Analysis, and wireless technologies
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with proxies, firewalls (virtual and physical), IPS, IDS and the roles they play
  • Experience with VOIP design and troubleshooting including call signaling (SIP, H.323, SCCP) and media (RTP) quality issues
  • Experience with advanced HTTP troubleshooting and tools (e.g. Fiddler/HTTP Watch)
  • Knowledge of load balancing using products from a major provider such as F5 or A10
  • Cisco Certifications
