The Enterprise Services and Financial Systems (ESFS) organization provides strategic technical solutions for various Actuarial, Financial, and other business groups. Enterprise Actuarial Transformation is a newly launched program aimed at centralizing Actuarial systems which were traditionally aligned to individual business units into a common architecture. The architecture will enable streamlined and optimized processes and governance around financial liability modeling and reporting to meet more stringent regulatory guidelines and support business growth. The architecture will support sophisticated, business critical, computation intensive calculations and projection models. We are in the process of building out strategic an Actuarial valuations platform, requiring the design and development of new components and integration with an existing architecture. Our system solutions employ a robust combination and application of technologies.

We seek technologist for this Enterprise Actuarial Transformation program. They will be a part of a team responsible for the full software development lifecycle of components of the distributed Actuarial platform. The responsibilities of the position include collaborative design, development, and support of enterprise-scale solutions. The candidate must have expertise with SDLC, Java and database technologies, and change management best practices. The candidate will also work collaboratively with a broader technology organization to ensure solutions integrate with other components of the architecture, meet high technical quality standards, and follow software development best practices.

  • 5 years of relevant software development experience
  • Bachelors Degree required, preferably in Computer Science or related engineering discipline
  • Hands on experience developing in Java/J2EE and knowledge of Object Oriented design concepts and design patterns strongly preferred
  • Hands on experience with SQL, database object modeling, partitions, star schema, and other data warehousing concepts, and performance tuning; Oracle a plus
  • Understanding of agile development methodologies and test driven development practices
  • Working knowledge of distributed systems and service oriented architectures
  • Unix/Linux shell scripting is a plus
  • Understanding of finance, risk modeling and pricing is a plus
  • Ability to work in a team, to multi-task, self-motivated, and organized
  • Strong verbal and written communication, and interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Strong work ethic and drive for success
  • Keeps up to date on emerging technologies
