Valley Hospital is seeking a highly motivated Night Shift Lead Behavioral Health Technician.  

 

The Lead Tech is responsible for planning and implementing activity services for assigned program,

which involves defining and implementing treatment goals as a member of the treatment team and provide continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling to patients under the direction of the RN. The Lead Tech will also ensure clinical excellence, safety, and crisis management of patient population by direct support to the patient and  will actively support, promote the Mission, Vision and Values of Valley Hospital. This position will provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.  Demonstrates commitment to Service Excellence

Hours per week: 36

Schedule details: 7pm-7:30am

 

STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE

Assessment:

1.  Take and record vital signs properly.

2.  Monitor each patient’s location per the Observation Policy   and Procedure.

3.  Utilize sound judgment during assessment and observe and documents any changes in a patient's
appearance, behavior or ability to work toward treatment plan goals.

4.  Communicate changes in patient's condition to the charge nurse.

 

Treatment Planning:

Follow the therapeutic interventions outlined by the treatment team for each patient.

Ensure awareness of patient's individualized plan of care including goals and interventions.

Provide information to the charge nurse that assists in the development and revision of the
treatment plan.

1.  Ensure intervention is based on the patient's plan of care.

2.  Employ appropriate crisis intervention techniques as needed.

3.  Employ facility approved SAMA techniques as necessary.

4.  Assist patients through the discharge process.

5.  Assist patients with personal hygiene and activities of daily living.

Milieu Management:

1.  Comply with the established policies and procedures requiring a safe, clean and therapeutic
environment.

2.  Practice universal precautions and environmental safety guidelines.

3.  Recognize and respond to priorities in patient care responsibilities.

4.  Supervise and assist patients in all patient areas.

5.  Check patients for contraband and manage the patient's valuables and belongings.

6.  Report potential crisis situations to the nurse in charge and respond in an appropriate fashion.

7. Ensure patient safety through continuous supervision of patient.

8.  Establish and maintain a professional therapeutic relationship with patients.

Requirements

Education: High School Degree or equivalent required.

 

Requirements related to level of education: High school graduate needs 4 years experience.  Associates degree completed need 2 years experience.  Bachelor's degree completed need one year of experience.  Previous experience as a Lead Tech preferred.

 

Additional Requirements: Successful completion CPR certification prior to employment and Satori Alternatives during the orientation process and prior to assisting with restraining procedures. May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.
