The Manager of the Release Management team in the Customer Office is part of the Technology Production Operations team. The incumbent will be responsible for the coordination and communication of all Customer Office application releases to the production environment.


A close working relationship with Product Management, Development Leads, Architects, and QA Leads is essential. The goal is to ensure that all application releases are successfully scheduled and deployed to production with minimal interruption to critical business services.

  • Develops a high performing Release Management team through strong leadership skills
  • Manages risks and resolves issues that affect release scope, schedule, and quality
  • Partners with Development teams to prepare for timely and smooth acceptance of deliverables into production environment
  • Owns the Release Management Lifecycle from planning to completion including coordination and communication with all stakeholders
  • Builds effective internal and external relationships that are essential to delivering an "always-on" software product or service
  • Receives little instruction on day-to-day work
  • Operates from a mindset of end-to-end ownership working closely with Technology teams and Production Operations staff
  • Hosts weekly Release Planning calls with all stakeholders to ensure all deployments are planned, tested, potential roadblocks identified, and signed off on before going into production
  • Conducts release readiness reviews, milestone reviews, and business go/no-go reviews
  • Tracks all release details and provides reporting as well as meeting updates to all stakeholders
  • Oversight of the Customer Office Release Calendar
  • Measures and monitors progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time
  • Continually works toward making improvements in the release management process
  • Takes up any additional responsibility as needed by business

  • Minimum of 10 years IT Operations experience including ITSM and Production Support or related with demonstrated effective leadership and analytical skills
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in leading an application Release Management team
  • Knowledge of the Release management function – including an understanding of the key phases of a release and release management responsibilities in each of these phases
  • Experience working in a release management function where management of best practices were illustrated
  • Has a proven track record for developing people, teams, and strong partnerships with other functional and remote teams
  • Awareness of and experience creating release documentation
  • Well versed in the ITIL framework with an understanding of the ITIL framework and release management interaction with other teams
  • Ability to identify release risks / limitations, suggest action plans, and provide recommendations
  • Experience in metrics gathering and reporting
  • Experience documenting processes and SOPs
  • Strong business background and/or development experience with large complex business applications across all phases of an application development project
  • Must operate with an insatiable appetite for learning and sharing new trends in technology
  • The motivation to recognize and implement process improvements
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills are a must
  • Ability to prioritize work
  • Should be a good mentor and team motivator
  • Experience with Java, SOA (Service Oriented Architecture), AWS Cloud a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field or equivalanet relevant experience. MS/MBA a plus
  • ITIL Certification a plus
  • Ability to work off hours & weekends and provide phone support as needed to support planned and unplanned release activity
