Cox Communications is looking for an infrastructure engineer IV who will be responsible for engineering and supporting non-production and production platforms. The primary focus of the role is to leverage aspects of platform engineering and deliver automated platform builds and configurations. This tier 3, on-call support position that requires interactions with Enterprise solution design, OS administration, network engineering, DevOps and testing teams.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions: 

•Design, document, configure and support the infrastructure for multiple Non-Production and Production services in various network spaces

•Create MOPs for production operation teams

•Drive platform improvements and standardization efforts

•Communicate clearly with boundary partners (Enterprise solution design, OS administration, network engineering and DevOps teams) to seamlessly implement solutions to complex technical issues

• Help to drive architectural improvements and standardization for the infrastructure environments

• Perform environment verification tests

• Define automated processes to release new solutions into the target environments in a timely, repeatable fashion

•Work closely with enterprise configuration management team to build CI/CD pipelines

•Work with minimal supervision and able to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced agile development environment

• Mentor and train co-workers

• DevOps 24/7 support will be required (on-call rotation every 4 weeks)

• This is a "hands on" technical position and will require the individual to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced software and technical lifecycle

• Adhere to all existing Cox Communications security and software standards





•Extensive knowledge of our common stack of middleware platforms:

    oJBoss EAP 6.x/7.x, JBoss Fuse 6.x, JBoss AMQ 6.x, 7, Apache HTTPD, WebLogic

    oJBoss CLI to make changes to running JBoss configuration

    oJBoss standalone configuration modifications

    oExperience in configuring datasources, resource adapters, http web connectors

•Good understanding of Keystores, how to create, validate and support certificates (OpenSSL, Keytool)

•Java Performance Analysis and Tuning

•Working experience with cloud technologies (Docker, kubernetes, openshift, AWS, Azure)

•Excellent scripting skills (Ansible,Chef, Puppet, shell, WLST, JBoss CLI, Bash/KSH)

•Familiarity with source control tools (GIT, SVN), Jenkins CI/CD

•Familiarity with APM Tools (HP Diagnostics, NewRelic /etc)       

•Able to identify network issues and analyze network traffic (i.e. snoop, tcpdump, wireshark)

•Minimum 5 years working in an IT platform engineering environment or related field

•Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to diagnose application issues and get to the root cause of problem 

•Able to work with minimal direction and in a team environment 

•Excellent analysis and problem-solving skills, with great attention to detail



•BS/BA in related discipline (i.e., Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems) 

•Ability to focus on primary objective yet also consider ‘big picture’ implications

•Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

• Experience working in DevOps model

• Automation and orchestration (CI/CD) experience (Ansible, Jenkins)

• Knowledge of containers and management (Docker, Kubernetes)

• Knowledge of developer tools (Git, Stash)
