Job Title Director/Lead, Innovation Accelerator

JobID 1609834

Location: New York, NY

The Innovation Accelerator Team is new and charged with rapid acceleration of innovation pilots scaled to standard business practice across IM in a structured way. The capability is new to the organization, so the team and capability will be run like a startup. The team will also stand up a venture capital structure for continuous investment in/assessment of new opportunities.

This group supports teams across Internal Medicine in their quest to experiment and bring new business opportunities to market as quickly as possible.

The Lead on the Innovation Accelerator team will report directly to the VP, Media, Digital and Innovation Accelerator. The team is forming now and the Lead will be key to building out the capability, the mission and scaling it across the organization. There will be an MBA rotational on the team in September that will report to the Lead and another junior team member, reporting to the Lead, will be added after that. The team will take on high profile projects and help quickly launch them for success.

Building on the Dare To Try (DTT) framework, the Innovation Accelerator team will seek to find ways to build the internal capability of rapid prototyping to apply to our business. This is the capability of getting pilots built and launched into the market in 100 days. The team will build and scale the capability internally, for IM. Projects and pilots the team will take on will range from marketing to sales. The goal will be to adapt the capability for all types of projects. This is not a digital marketing capability; rather, it is the capability to launch any pilot quickly, scale it, iterate, optimize, and integrate the new practice to become business as usual. The process will be built to apply to all different types of activities and projects across our organization.

This team will also be defining and building an internal "venture capital" (VC) funding model, board structure, and pitch process. Further, the Innovation Accelerator will be partnering with top external innovation and start-up organizations to better understand their 100-day rapid prototyping processes and adapting for internal application.

A key capability of the team is to be agile and quick, while being comfortable with white space. "Building the plane as we're flying it" will be necessary. Building this new team and capability will be an exciting position and the qualified candidate will play a key role in the development and launch of the team and capability, which is sure to have a positive, lasting impact on Pfizer.
