Job Description

Laurel Heights Hospital is an intensive inpatient and residential psychiatric treatment facility for children and adolescents. We are seeking a Lead Mental Health Associate with 1 years of supervisory experience in a hospital/psychiatric setting, prefer experience with children and adolescents with Autism or other neurodevelopmental disabilities including mood instability, self-injury, suicidal behavior or severe aggression.  This position will work 2nd shift from 2:45pm - 11:15pm and every other weekend. This person will successfully assume responsibility as role model in both de-escalation skills and positive staff relationships, comply with all policies and procedures, actively support the mission, philosophy, and goals of the hospital, communicate with sensitivity to growth, development, and cultural issues, provide leadership, supervision, and direction to MHAs, assess, direct, and intervene in crisis situations and perform other duties as assigned. Job Requirements

High School Diploma with a minimum of 1 year supervisory experience in a similar setting working with developmentally disabled and/or behaviorally disordered children and adolescents. Ability to manage a treatment milieu, including organizing, prioritizing and scheduling activities and work assignments.  High school level reading and writing skills; acceptable oral and written communication skills; legible handwriting; ability to maintain information as highly confidential; telephone etiquette and customer service skills by phone and face-to-face; familiarity with medical and psychological terminology preferred; skills in dealing courteously with the public and other staff within the organization; basic knowledge of human behavior or principles of psychology preferred; skills in prioritizing and in managing time; problem-solving skills; use of appropriate social skills, including demonstration and respect for staff and patients; empathy toward children and adolescents; basic knowledge of child growth and development preferred; experience working with children with autism; skill in following behavioral plans necessary; able to respond to children/adolescents in a consistent and caring manner, consistent in maintaining professional boundaries; willingness to seek supervision in this regard necessary.  Employee must have a valid Georgia’s Drivers License. In the absence of these qualifications upon hire, must demonstrate ability to learn these concepts and develop these skills within reasonable time frame via the organization’s orientation and training program.::
