Two Rivers Behavioral Health System has been providing services to the Kansas City metropolitan and surrounding area since 1986.  Two Rivers is committed to providing children, adolescents and adults with compassionate behavioral health treatment based on the unique needs of the individual.  We are a Joint Commission Accredited hospital providing inpatient, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient services.

 

We are currently seeking Patient Safety Techs to join our team to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Primary responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention and activities of daily living. Staff must demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to units providing care to varied populations including children, adolescents, adults, and dually diagnosed patients. Must possess knowledge of psychiatric group processes, therapeutic relationships processes, age specific growth and development, limit setting and behavior management, crisis management with aggressive behaviors, and CPR training.

Job Requirements

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Knowledge of risk and safety precautions in the care of patients

Assist and monitor patients daily living activities

Conduct patient monitoring and observation (Q-15minute checks) according to facility policy and procedures.

Ability to react therapeutically in a crisis situation

Demonstrate effective skills in managing escalating patients

Ability to respond to patients with empathy and with positive interpersonal skills.

EDUCATION:  Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or related field highly preferred or high school diploma with 3 years relevant experience working in the psychiatric field. 

EXPERIENCE: Experience working with mental illness, and Dual Diagnosis populations.

SKILLS:  Preferred strong customer service and organizational skills, accurate, thorough and timely follow-up with attention to detail.  Mental Health Technician must also be comfortable using a computer, and working in a fast-pace environment.
