What You’ll Do
You’ll help us bring to life the Employee Communications vision: To energize employees with a connected experience that informs them about our business, engages them in our culture and gives them confidence in our future. Specifically, in fiscal year 2018, we want to take big steps to personalize the information employees get each day—to spark conversations and help them align to each other and the business.

We’re laser focused yet flexible and always up for a new challenge. And we’re looking for someone to develop and execute the global communications strategy and plan for our leadership (team leaders and directors) and executive (VPs and above) communities. Here’s how you'll do that:

Strategy and Planning – You’ll develop an editorial strategy and plan that is based on business priorities from the CEO and his leadership team as well as Human Resources and Marketing and Communications priorities. And, you’ll make sure it’s all aligned to Employee Communications overall editorial, events and audience experience strategy.

Events – You’ll bring the company strategy to life and engage these audiences using a blend of virtual and in-person forums. These include quarterly leadership meetings, annual offsites for senior executives to both develop the strategy and share it, and a guest speaker series. You’ll lead the overall event experience, from defining the agenda to developing specific content and communications. You’ll work with project managers, event managers, event vendors, content managers and the broader Executive Communications team to deliver a successful event. You’ll stay connected to the team’s Event Strategy Lead and Digital Strategy Lead to ensure consistency across all Employee Communications events (like our monthly all-employee meeting).

Editorial – You’ll be responsible for maintaining an editorial calendar that supports the communications strategy. You will own the content and publishing strategy for the intranet channels and communities available to the   leadership and executive audiences. You’ll work with content managers and program owners to ensure timing, tone and messages are appropriate for these audiences. You’ll stay connected to the team’s Managing Editor to ensure consistency in tone and voice across all of our employee communications. And you’ll stay connected to the Digital Strategy Lead to both be sure we’re using the best technologies possible and maintain consistency across all channels.

Audience Sentiment – You’ll stay on top of what matters most to Cisco’s leaders and executives. You’ll work with the Audience Sentiment & Metrics team on ways to regularly “take the pulse” of these groups and use that data to refine your communications strategy moving forward.

Who You'll Work With
This role is very collaborative and works across the company to deliver amazing experiences for our people. In addition to those mentioned above, you will partner with the Office of the CEO, various Human Resources executives/their teams, and other Employee Communications teams (such as in the regions and functions) to align plans and business priorities.

And, you’ll get all of this done with the help of our Audience and Channel Specialist for leaders and executives.

Who You Are
You are creative and willing to take risks to keep the communications channels and events fresh. You’ve got experience designing and doing amazing events. You have good analytic and decision-making skills. You feel comfortable advising and influencing senior leaders. You are strategic and tactical—you will lead the Leadership and Executive Audience core team, and roll up your sleeves to get the job done. And, you love being part of a team that is at the heart of the company.

Our minimum requirements for this role include:
  • More than 7 years integrated communications strategy and planning experience
  • Event or large program management experience
  • Cross-functional, global communications experience
  • Stellar writing skills (writing portfolio/samples will be requested)
