Job Description

Provo Canyon School is a psychiatric residential treatment center that serves youth that are struggling with emotional, behavioral and academic challenges. We serve both boys and girls ages 8 through 18 and have a gender-specific program for boys as well as for girls at two distinct and separate locations. For more than 40 years, we have continued to enhance, expand and improve services and resources for families and students.

As an LPN you deliver quality treatment and student care serving as member of interdisciplinary team supporting hospital's program and philosophy. You meet students' general and psychiatric nursing care needs and assure students' well-being and safety. You actively and constructively participate on the multi-disciplinary treatment team in a manner that supports the school's treatment program and philosophy and assures the deliverance of quality treatment to our students. You supervise patients in their daily activities and provide a positive role model for patients in personal dress, grooming, attitude, and behavior.

Job Requirements

Possess current LRN license in State of Utah; demonstrates sound leadership skills and utilizes these skills in organizing the activities and schedules for medical and/or non-medical tasks for a given shift, record of consistently high quality of clinical and interpersonal skills to be an exemplary role model to others; basic knowledge of abnormal psychology and application of this knowledge in arena of nursing care; advanced knowledge of medical terminology, specifically medical terms associated with psychiatric care; basic teaching or training skills helpful; problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills; crisis intervention skills; written and oral communication skills; skills in facilitating and/or co-facilitating process-oriented and didactic groups useful; skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with variety of clinical and support team members; empathy for students and their families; flexibility.
