Prudential is looking for an experienced Linux Weblogic Administrator, with a background in Oracle Enterprise Linux or Redhat Linux, to join the team in our growing El Paso office.



  • Support the Financial Services Architecture within the Enterprise Services and Financial Systems group
  • Work as part of an Oracle and Linux team mainly based in the US
  • Support and partner with business users in their use of Oracle and Linux applications
  • Administer and maintain the performance of Oracle and Linux applications including installation, deployment, performance tuning, patching, cloning, backup, system administration and upgrades
  • Strong communication and analytical skills are required to work closely with business partners
  • Work US (EST) hours
  • Possibly participate in an on call rotation to provide 24x7 support
  • On occasion, candidate may be required to work some weekends
  • Domestic and International travel may be required

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Oracle Enterprise Linux or Redhat Linux (commands, bash/korn shell scripting)
  • Experience with Weblogic 12c
  • Knowledge of SQL Server (2008/2012)
  • In-depth knowledge of Oracle (11g/12)
  • Oracle Enterprise or Redhat Linux experience (commands, bash/korn shell scripting)
  • Expert level proficiency with SQL Server and Oracle RDBMS installation/configuration, patching, troubleshooting, performance tracking/tuning, back-up/recovery, remote monitoring skills with hands-on experience in large and very dynamic environments
  • Experience with Oracle E-Business Applications release 11i and/or r12, or the specific release 12.2.5 (or lower)
  • Solid experience maintaining/enhancing/tuning Oracle applications
  • At least 3 years of experience in enterprise applications support, working with relational databases
  • Experience monitoring RMAN backups using Autosys and RAC
  • Ability to document and implement database administration architectures and operational procedures
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Self starter; Able to accomplish objectives given general guidance without requiring detailed managerial oversight
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills
  • Results oriented, approachable and the ability to work individually or collaboratively with other team members
  • Self motivated with good problem solving and investigation skills
  • Ability to prioritize requirements and handle multiple, simultaneous or conflicting projects and tasks
  • Motivation to recognize and implement process improvements
  • Ability to quickly absorb knowledge, document and cross train other team members
  • Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines


Experience with the following is preferred:

  • Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE), Essbase, DRM, Coherence
  • Server administration experience with multiple operating systems like Unix, Linux and Windows
  • Windows 2012 Systems Administration experience
  • Microsoft SQL 2012/2014, IBM UDB, Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2.x
  • Ability to analyze and apply EBS patches, complete upgrades and database enhancements
  • Oracle Enterprise Manager(11g/12)
  • Knowledge of Powershell scripting
  • Knowledge of Windows System Administration
  • Ability to work on concurrent programs and forms
  • Knowledge of the following administration would be strongly desirable:
    • RMAN and Shareplex
    • Oracle E-Business suite r12
    • Oracle Portal
    • Oracle Business Intelligence
    • Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g or 12
    • Hyperion Essbase
    • Web Technologies including Weblogic and Microsoft IIS
  • Experience writing ad hoc scripts using Perl, Korn Shell
  • Knowledge of SAN architecture and storage infrastructure
  • Experience with source code management tools like PPM, PVCS
  • Middleware, Oracle Application Server (OAS), Apache, OC4J, Oracle BI, Oracle WebLogic Server
  • OCP certification
