Job Description
JOB PURPOSE: Provides hospital-wide oversight of Continuous Quality Improvement and Risk Management Programs to comply with guidelines and standards of UHS, Inc., JCAHO, DMH and other regulatory agencies. Provides the facility with feedback and trending data while delivering measurable improvements to ensure the necessary compliance. RESPONSIBILITIES: (Include, not limited to) • Continuous Quality Improvement: Primarily responsible for hospital-wide Continuous Quality Improvement efforts as part of total quality management plan for the hospital. Organizes and implements a system with clear objectives, appropriate review and relevant reporting mechanisms. Through coordination and consultation, maintains a system of ongoing continuous performance improvement that reviews key areas of service; identifies trends and makes improvement when appropriate. Directs all hospital Quality Improvement efforts by facilitating, coordinating and reporting on continuous quality management activities on a timely basis. • Risk Management: Coordinates the Risk Management Program for the hospital, which is integrated with other hospital programs to enable monitoring, controlling and/or preventing risk exposures. Advises management and administration on all potential sources of loss, and makes recommendations to minimize or eliminate exposure. Identifies actual and potential risk situations, facilitates the determination on potential causative factors, and refers occurrences for follow up to appropriate department or committees. ?? Loss Prevention: Communicates with appropriate departments and agencies, to share information, monitor claims and implement system changes aimed at reducing or eliminating high-risk causative factors. Facilitates, develops and provides educational programs to ensure that all employees are aware of the hospital’s Risk Management Plan. ?? Claims and Litigation Management: Conducts a Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on all incidents that meet RCA criteria, and reports findings to hospital administration and UHS Risk Management in a timely manner. Investigates all claims and reports results to hospital administration and the UHS Claims Manager. ?? Risk Analysis and Reporting: Statistically summarizes, analyzes and reports information on hospital-wide incidents to appropriate committees. Uses risk management information for program considerations and the development/revision of policies or procedures. • Standards/Corporate Compliance: Provides management direction and oversight in specifically assigned areas of responsibility to meet hospital, corporate and external agency needs. Primarily responsible for the coordination of internal and external standards of compliance by interacting and managing staff to assure hospital is always prepared for surveys, inspections and third-party reports.
Job Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Current Massachusetts RN License or Bachelor of Science or equivalent experience in related field. Licensure/ Cert
