Alabama Clinical Schools (ACS) is an 80-bed Joint Commission accredited facility in the Trussville area, providing a therapeutic milieu for at risk males with behavioral health issues. In addition to a specialty program for youth with sexually abusive behaviors and a separate, intensive psychiatric unit, ACS has two levels of foster care programs for youth who can remain in the community. We firmly believe successful treatment is based upon the individual needs of each youth in the least restrictive setting. At ACS you will work with a small group of nurses,where turnover is low, and the whole facility is a 24-hour Team. You will appreciate the familiarity andcamaraderiewith your co-workers and other employees!

The Nurse responsibilities may include the following: · Completes patient admission process, including nursing assessment · Documents ongoing patient assessments/progress clearly and concisely · Medication administration and management · Participates as member of interdisciplinary treatment team · Provides appropriate nursing intervention/documentation in crisis situations · Reports unsafe conditions · Provides age-specific communication, limit setting and interventions · Provides health education to patients and their families · Prepares and adheres to facility patient discharge process · Interacts with patients and staff in professional manner, promotes teamwork and demonstrates Service Excellence Schedule – Flexible scheduling, day and evening shifts with weekend rotations Tuition assistance is available to LPNS who become RNs and stay with ACS!

Job Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited LPN nursing program. Licensed by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
  • One year psychiatric nursing experience preferred
  • Knowledge of nursing practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnosis, treatment, planning intervention and evaluation of psychiatric patients
  • Ability to administer medication/treatments and monitor for effectiveness and side effects
  • Skills in developing therapeutic relationship with children and adolescents
  • Skills in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation
  • Ability to provide education to patients and families/legal guardians about their health needs
  • Good oral and written communication including verbal de-escalation techniques
  • Ability to plan, organize and conduct patient care processes in a timely manner
  • Ability to safely perform physical management techniques and crisis intervention
  • Must successfully pass background screen (includes criminal history, Child Abuse and Neglect Registry, and ABI/FBI fingerprint check) and drug testing
  • Must be reliable, following through on assignments

Schedule – Flexible scheduling, day and evening shifts with weekend rotations
