Description:

Prudential El Paso is looking for candidates with extensive mainframe experience either in a development of systems engineering capacity


Successful candidates for the developer role include:

  • Managing a high number of projects simultaneously
  • Working on their own initiative showing creativity and a committed drive to obtain the results required
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Build strong working relationships with our customers.
  • Implementing system enhancements across the full software development life
    cycle, from requirements gathering through to post-implementation support
  • Becoming subject matter experts of assigned applications and mentor other members of the team on technologies and applications

 

Responsibilities for the engineering roles are specialized and may include some of the following:

  • Tracking, installing, testing new versions of the Mainframe Languages and Tools supported by SEG.
  • Providing user support for all mainframe Languages and Tools.
  • Ensuring CICS region reliability, provides CICS Infra-Structure and Application design expertise, and provides software expertise relating to the installation, implementation and debugging of all CICS IBM and CICS related OEM products. Role required flexibility and responsiveness to the changing environments.
  • Installing, testing new versions of the Mainframe and client server applications including Document Direct/INFOPAC (ViewDirect for MVS), VPS, External Writer, Director (print output sent to Notes/Exchange).
  • Installation, maintenance, testing and support for DB2 forz/OS and IMS for the US and Japan, and a variety of related products that comprise the US and Japan mainframe enterprise.

Role may include afterhours, on call production support responsibilities.

 

Travel between various Prudential locations (Domestic/International) may be required.

 


Candidate requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or related discipline.

  • 6 years VSAM
  • TSO /ISPF
  • Changeman
  • Fileaid
  • Expediter Essential Personal Skills
  • Excellent communication skills – Verbal and Written
  • Self motivated with good Problem solving and investigation skills
  • Organized individual with good documentation skills

The following would be an advantage  

  • Previous DB2 development experience
  • Previous CICS development experience
  • MQSeries
  • Assembler
  • SAS
  • Experience as a Project Lead
  • Previous experience in the Insurance industry

Systems engineering specific skills include:

 

COBOL, SAS, Assembler, ISPF, JCL, IBM Utilities, SMP/E, TSO, SDSF, Unix System Services, CyberFusion / FTP, DASD, tape and virtual tape, CICS, DB2, iStrobe, Remedy, Changeman, Windows OS, Linix, Unix, CA-Platinum, Tivoli Omegamon XE, OPTIM for DB2, QMF, IMS, CA Insight, z/OS Operating System, TCP/IP, VTAM, Unix System Services, Storage Subsystem, SMS, HSM, Spool, JES2, XCF, GRS, WLM, SYSPLEX, RMF, SMF, IPCS Trace, System Security, RACF, DB2 Languages, SQL, REXX, CLIST.
