Description **ROLE SUMMARY**

The Utilities Supervisor will direct the day to day activities of all technicians and contractors that support Pfizer McPherson, KS utility systems which include: HVAC, Clean Steam, Water for Injection (WFI), Reverse Osmosis (RO), Softened Water, Compressed Air, Plant Steam, Clean Steam, Nitrogen, and Chilled Water, Process Vacuum, & Central Vacuum. This position will ensure that sound corrective and preventive maintenance practices are performed to obtain reliable operation of critical equipment and processes. Additionally, this individual will work with the Utilities SME to drive energy improvement projects across the site. The Utilities Supervisor follows strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and cGMP's in a Pharmaceutical Manufacturing facility.



**ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**



+ Lead all assigned maintenance personnel and contractors in assuring all requirements of their assignments and responsibility are clearly communicated and understood. Foster an attitude of teamwork, compliance, quality, safety and productivity. Take prompt action to remediate employee performance issues while recognizing and rewarding positive results and performance.

+ Coordinate with manufacturing to complete necessary work with minimal disruption to operations.

+ Work with Reliability Engineering and Process Engineering to improve reliability and performance of production process equipment and utility equipment.

+ Ensure continuous reliable uninterrupted service for all critical systems that support a 24/7 manufacturing operation

+ Improve standard plant operating procedures, emergency control procedures and control room practices to cGMP standards.

+ Identify opportunities to utilize the Plant's critical systems in a more efficient manner to improve reliability and reduce operating costs.

+ Manages respective Quality Tracking System (QTS) tasks and work with our Quality group to ensure timely completion of investigations and CAPA's.

+ Support Internal and external audits (regulatory and customer) as required.

+ Actively contribute to the improvement of policy, practices, and procedures.

+ Ensure a staff training program is in place and verify staff are trained and fully qualified to perform their duties. Continue the improvement and implementation of the operator qualification courses, books, and manuals for all operation systems, including safety programs as they relate to the operations staff.

+ Ensure that all regular scheduling, vacations, and other time off work for operations team members are properly documented for payroll and attendance records.

+ Organize, review, prioritize, and schedule daily Work Orders (WO) and Preventative Maintenance (PM) work. Efficiently coordinate the workflow and documentation of PMs and WOs. Justify the need for additional resources or outside support when necessary.

+ Assist Facility Manager with annual maintenance budgets, approve expenditures, create and issue purchase orders, and forecast expenses. Submit capital requests as needed to support equipment replacement, upgrades, and other improvements. Partner with Project Engineering to ensure the smooth transition of Projects into day-to-day operations.

+ Ensure a safe work environment is maintained through adherence to safety guidelines and policies. Must follow safety rules and ensure compliance with KS state and federal EPA regulation and laws.

+ Communicates effectively with respect to verbal, written, and listening skills.

+ Help establish departmental goals and expectations of direct reports.



**QUALIFICATIONS**



+ BS in Engineering, Mechanical preferred, Chemical or Electrical with requisite experience

+ Minimum of 5 years of industry experience, including 3 years min. of supervisory experience

+ Must be proficient with respect to the operation and maintenance of various utility systems including WFI, RO, clean steam, plant steam, compressed air, nitrogen, boilers, and wastewater treatment plants.

+ Have a thorough knowledge of utility equipment, using blue prints, equipment manuals, specifications, standard operating procedures, and be able to use proper judgment when taking corrective actions during equipment malfunction.

+ Experience with writing and implementing operations procedures.

+ The ability to effectively interact with various internal and external stakeholders and departments.

+ Ability to analyze the performance and operating efficiency of the systems to optimize energy use and production.

+ Conduct activities with consideration of budget, time schedules, and overall project goals and objectives.

+ Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office suite of products)

+ Experience in the development and management of department budgets

+ Must have very strong verbal and written communication skills, documentation practices, be self-motivated and possess strong interpersonal skills.

+ Must possess strong work ethic (exemplary attendance, self-starter and highly motivated)

+ Willing to work off shifts and weekends as needed

+ Ability to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvement

+ Experience with computer based maintenance management systems, EAMS experience is a plus

+ Identifying and maintaining a critical spare parts inventory

+ Capable of managing maintenance shutdown activities.



**PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS**



+ Must be able to work in controlled or clean room environments requiring special gowning. Will be required to follow gowning requirements and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. No make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish or artificial fingernails may be worn in these work environments.

+ May be exposed to sunlight and heat, may work in a cold and wet work environment.

+ May be exposed to dust, gases, and fumes.

+ May be around moving equipment and machinery.

+ May be working in a loud area that requires hearing protection and other protective equipment to be worn.



**NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS**

First shift Monday through Friday. Some projects & initiatives may require evening and weekend work.
