Job Description

Henderson Hospital
Henderson Hospital is a member of The Valley Health System, a network of six acute care hospitals that provide care for patients throughout Southern Nevada and nearby communities. Located in the suburb of Henderson, the 120-bed hospital, which opened in 2016, offers emergency care, surgical services, including an ambulatory surgery center, cardiovascular care, women’s health and maternity services. A level II neonatal intensive care unit is slated to open by late 2017.

 

Job Description

Responsible for the maintenance of the physical plant buildings, grounds, equipment and utilities.  Individual Maintenance Technicians are originally hired to perform “specialty tasks” i.e., carpentry, painting, etc.  and are expected to work in other trade fields when trained and qualified.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      

 Essential Job Duties:

Performs responsibilities consistent with hospital safety policies.  
Leads repair and maintenance in area of specialty.           
Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems and make recommendations for corrective action with all mechanical and electrical systems and equipment.           
Completion of assigned PM’S and work orders in an appropriate and timely manner
Operates, maintains and repairs the various facility systems.         
Inspects and reports on the condition of all areas of the facility and maintains in good repair.
Reads and understands facility blueprints.          
Utilizes the equipment files to maintain continuity in repairing and/or replacing facility equipment.       
Able to read and interpret manufacturers’ instructions, blueprints, and schematic drawings. 
Math skills to prepare reports and maintain accurate records.  Math skills to prepare reports and maintain accurate records.

Manipulates the existing building automation system response to environmental control problems.       
Assists with the clean up of trash, water, chemicals, and oil spills in accordance with policy and procedure.   
Assists Security with fire/sprinkler alarm testing, disaster drills, and response as needed in accordance with established policy and procedures.        
Assists with material/supply deliveries and inventory control procedures.  
Exhibits an acceptable skill level in identifying problem troubleshooting situations, affecting repairs, and communicating status as required.
Patience, tact, and courtesy to handle all personnel in a professional manner.          

Department Specific Requirements

Familiar with layout of facility.
Familiar with tools and equipment used in the repair of the facility.             

Knowledgeable of work order process and forms

Job Requirements:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.  Completion of a certification course in a trade or 2 years practical experience in one or more of the following trades:  carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, painting, locksmith, general building, general equipment maintenance.   Associates of Science Degree in related field, such as HVAC, Central Station Equipment or other technical field preferred.                                                                                                                                                     

Experience: Minimum two years experience required.  Certification/Degree may be substituted for experience.                                                                                                                                                 

Technical Skills: Skills in one or more of the specialized trades.                                                                                                                                      

License/Certification: Certification in specialized trade preferred. (carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, etc.)                                                                                                                                              

Other: Must have basic mathematical aptitude and exceptional troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities to be able to identify problems and make recommendations for corrective action with all mechanical and electrical systems and equipment.
