Job Description

Trussville area treatment facility for adolescent males seeks a full-time Maintenance Technician to provide maintenance services as needed and assigned.  Will assist in a wide variety of maintenance activities, addressing immediate operational and/or safety concerns, and ensuring that tools, materials and vehicles are maintained in good working order.  Performs tasks such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, preventive maintenance, HVAC and tests and inspections of the buildings and property.

Job Requirements

Duties:

Will perform work in a variety of service related maintenance areas:

  • Light construction – painting (interior and exterior) drywall finishing carpentry etc.

  • Changing lights, replacing outlets and switches

  • Pressure washing

  • Windows and doors maintenance and replacement

  • Floor coverings and acoustical ceilings

  • Prep/set up for special events 

 

Education/Training: 

  • High School graduate or GED required

  • A two year technical or trade school/technical coursework or Associate’s degree preferred

  • One year of maintenance work experience in hospital and/or healthcare facility strongly preferred

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new job-related software

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must have experience in the area of building maintenance, basic mechanical engineering, painting/wall repair, electrical, carpentry and plumbing.

  • Knows and take appropriate precautions when handling tools and other equipment

  • Complies with established measures for infection control, OSHA regulations, and Safety/Risk Management Plans, policies and procedures

  • Supports facility-wide quality/performance improvement goals and objectives.

  • Maintains confidentiality of facility employees and resident information

  • Able to work from plans and specifications, and to take direction and follow instructions

  • Able to organize and prioritize tasks to ensure accuracy and timely completion

  • Capable of doing extensive walking, climbing of stairs and ladders, lifting/carrying a minimum of 50 pounds by applying proper body mechanics

  • Keeps tools and materials in good condition and in their proper location

  • On-call rotation


Tobacco free campus. 

Must successfully pass background and drug screen.

New hire must be able to attend 2 weeks of New Employee Orientation on day shift, normally 8:30am - 4:30pm M - F.
