Job Description

Schick Shadel Hospital is seeking a Maintenance Technician to assist the Director of Plant Operations in providing a safe and well maintained environment of care.  The Maintenance Technician will perform a variety of routine maintenance tasks including carpentry, framing, painting, plumbing and electrical repairs adhering to hospital building codes.  The Maintenance Technician must have good communication skills and be comfortable interacting with hospital patients and staff members.

Job Requirements
  1.   Responsible for carrying out all aspects of preventive and routine maintenance.
  2.   To observe, repair and/or report any safety hazards.
  3.   To design, build and finish interior partitions.
  4.   To design, build and finish building envelope.
  5.   Paint and maintain wall integrity of rooms and corridors.
  6.   Responsible for proper care of tools and maintenance equipment.
  7.   Provide framing, sheetrock, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry as needed.
  8.   Familiarity with the building codes for permitted jobs.
  9.   Participate in required hospital inservice education and online learning classes.
  10.   Other duties as requested by the Director of Plant Operations.


  1.   Education:  Graduation from high school or G.E.D. required.
  2.   Experience:   Previous experience of five years or more in the building trades/maintenance and experience
      as a lead or foreman.
  3.   Must have occupational level computer skills in Word, Excel and Outlook.
  4.   Must be able to effectively communicate and maintain excellent working relationships with outside
      contractors and hospital departments.
