Job Description

The Maintenance Technician performs a variety of tasks, including painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, test and inspections of physical plant equipment, preventive maintenance and various janitorial duties with minimal supervision.

  1. Perform all tasks such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, preventative maintenance, HVAC, tests and inspections of the physical plant.

    • Clean and change air filters as required through Preventative Maintenance Program.

    • Clean kitchen grease traps and stove hood filters.

    • Dispose of infectious / contaminated waste from facility.

    • Maintain light fixtures in good working condition and change bulbs as necessary.

    • Perform preventative maintenance electrical test as well as the removal, installation, and repair of all mechanical / electrical equipment with direct supervision of a supervisor.

    • Perform various janitorial duties.

  2. Responsible for keeping tools and materials in good condition and in their proper location.

  3. Responsible for taking necessary precautions when handling hand / power tools and equipment.

  4. Take appropriate precautions ensuring proper tag out and lock out procedures when working on equipment.

  5. Comply with established measures for infection control, OSHA regulations and Safety / Risk Management Plans, policies, and procedures.

  6. Maintain various logs but not limited to the: Generator, Fire Extinguishers, Utilities Equipment, Work Orders, Temperature, Fire Alarm, and Fire Sprinklers.

  7. Assist in assuring a safe and risk preventative environment.

  8. Use time constructively and in an organized manner.

  9. Adhere to facility, department, corporate, personnel and standard policies and procedures.

  10. Attend all mandatory facility in-services and staff development activities as scheduled.

  11. Adhere to facility standards concerning conduct, dress, attendance and punctuality.

  12. Support facility-wide quality/performance improvement goals and objectives.

Maintain confidentiality of facility employees and patient information.

  1. Knowledge of various hand/power tools and equipment.

  2. Knowledge of risk and safety precautions applicable to all codes and OSHA regulations standards.

  3. Knowledge of all code procedures.

  4. Skill in organizing and prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines.

  5. Effective oral and written communication skills.

  6. Ability to analyze problems and situations.

  7. Ability to communicate effectively with patients and co-workers.

  8. Ability to adhere to safety policies and procedures.

  9. Ability to use good judgment and to maintain confidentiality of information.

Job Requirements

Education: High school graduate or equivalent preferred; two (2) years of technical or trade school preferred.

Experience: Must have experience in operating a variety of hand/power tools and equipment ensuring proper safety precautions. Must have experience in the area of building maintenance and basic mechanical engineering.

Licensure: Must have a valid driver's license.

Additional Requirements: Must have complete knowledge of physical plant within two weeks of hire.
