The Management Engineer supports UHS Corporate Senior staff, hospital executives and department management with labor initiatives focused on effectively managing labor utilization and cost. Programs and initiatives supported include daily and bi-weekly productivity analysis and reporting, premium pay utilization, operations benchmarking, Kronos optimization and the annual labor budget.  The position also works closely with Corporate functional Directors and Performance and Process Improvement to achieve improved staffing and workflow across the Acute Division using Lean Six Sigma and analytics.

Essential Job Duties:

Works with hospital leadership teams in the use of productivity, benchmarking, and budgeting tools and information to effectively manage labor resources.

Conducts interviews, performs observation, and collects and analyzes other data to make informed recommendations on staffing targets and goals. Shares insight from working with multiple organizations to better leverage experience across the Division. Directly utilizes Lean Six Sigma and process improvement tools to assist in projects.

Assists in the training of new leaders in the purpose and use of Workforce Management tools, reports and capabilities.

Processes, analyzes, and distributes bi-weekly and monthly workload and resource utilization information for Corporate Senior Staff and Hospital Executive teams.


Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Health Systems Engineering or another related field, Master degree preferred. 

  • Experience working in healthcare, productivity management, and/or process improvement systems.
  • Healthcare Analysis experience preferred
  • Computer skills with proficiency in SQL, MS Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word. Knowledge of Tableau, Crystal, McKesson, Cerner Software, and MS Project strongly desired.
  • Good communication skills and presentation skills and experience with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Certified Green Belt or Black Belt preferred. 
  • English verbal and written fluency.

Extensive travel – 40 to 60%.
