Description:

The Manager of Actuarial Internal Controls will maintain the business continuity, records management and information protection (privacy) programs for the Actuarial Department. The Manager of Actuarial Internal Controls will also coordinate the compilation of information on the Operational Risk Management (ORM) framework to provide reporting and insights to Chief Actuaries, provide subject matter expertise and guidance on assessments processes to ensure efficiency and communicate with risk and control functions. Specific responsibilities follow.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Business Continuity (BC)

·         Identify/update business processes and dependencies.

·         Perform a Business Impact Analysis (BIA) to evaluate the financial and operational impacts of unexpected BC events on Actuarial processes.

·         Ensure that dependency Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and Recovery Point Objective (RPO) mismatches are identified, acknowledged and addressed.

·         Ensure that appropriate recovery solutions have been documented for business processes and dependencies.

·         Develop, maintain and implement BC plans in compliance with enterprise BC standards and complete annual signoff with each Chief Actuary.

·         Facilitate testing including building tests.

·         Distribute key BC communications including the Health Crisis Plan.

·         Understand enterprise BC standards and provide periodic training to Actuarial associates.

Records Management (RM)

·         Review and maintain records retention schedules.

·         Coordinate and approve MyRecords updates (folder structures, exceptions, access for new and existing users, etc.).

·         Serve as liaison to the Law Department to identify and track potential custodians for record hold orders (RHOs) that affect Actuarial associates.

·         Control user access to vendor storage applications for managing off-site records including notifications to Actuarial associates when records approach retention limits.

·         Manage and coordinate electronic records disposition process including notifications to Actuarial associates when records approach retention limits.

·         Manage disposition of paper physical records including coordination of periodic records cleanups and use of shredding bins.

·         Facilitate annual attestation with each Chief Actuary.

·         Collaborate with Corporate RM to provide training and communications to Actuarial associates.

Information Protection (Privacy)

·         Complete and update the Personally Identifiable Information (PII) Inventory in accordance with the requirements of the PII Inventory Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).

·         Conduct and update Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA) as necessary in accordance with the PIA SOP.

·         Assist in the development and maintenance of privacy procedures and coordinate related assessment, implementation, oversight, monitoring, and testing.

·         Report and manage all actual and potential Privacy Incidents to ensure that details of Privacy Incidents are understood and risks mitigated in a thorough, timely and repeatable manner in accordance with the Privacy Incident Management and Privacy Breach Response SOP.

·         Complete Privacy Process Assessments for Actuarial processes involving Personal Information pursuant to the Privacy Process Assessment SOP.

·         Facilitate annual attestation with each Chief Actuary.

·         Assist in the development, maintenance and delivery of privacy related communications and training.

Position can be based out of Newark, NJ or Hartford, CT.

 


· Demonstrated experience in managing projects across a large organization

· Experience in a risk, analyst, or related function a plus

· Familiarity with the actuarial function a plus

· Strong leadership and relationship management skills, including the ability to interact and influence multiple levels of business management.

· Self-motivated with strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.

· A conscientious, detail-oriented nature.

· Ability to collaborate across business units, corporate, and control functions.
