The Manager is responsible for the successful implementation of all the technical aspects of actuarial support for annuity product initiatives and ongoing management of current annuity product portfolio, with a focus on illustration and administration system test results.   It is expected that this person will be recognized within the organization as a product expert.
This position is located in Shelton, CT.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage small team of 2-3 actuarial associates responsible for illustration and administration methodology documentation, test tool development, and testing.
  • Work with cross-functional project teams to develop, scope, plan, and execute on new product initiatives.  Represent Actuarial Support to advocate for the illustrations and complex calculation process, and ensure that the key deliverables under that process are done thoroughly and in line with project milestone dates.
  • Develop technical requirements for illustration and administrative system calculations for new products, features, and revisions to existing products.   Relevant product designs include fixed and variable, immediate and deferred annuities, and optional living and death benefits.
  • Assist in the enhancement and programming of an actuarial test tool to be used to validate administrative system changes and illustration changes.
  • Perform actuarial analysis and deliverables associated with regulatory requirements and state filing:   standard nonforfeiture law, actuarial memorandum and filing exhibits, fee reasonableness and self support.
  • Provide on-going detailed knowledge and problem resolution within Product and to business partners across the organization.

Job Requirements

  • 3-6 years relevant experience; Annuities, Variable Life Insurance, or Financial Services experience required
  • Bachelors degree
  • ASA preferred, but not required
  • Programming skills – VBA (Excel and Access)
  • Proven success in implementing product development projects that deliver results to meet business goals
  • Excellent ability to analyze, demonstrate, & communicate technical aspects of product initiatives
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple levels within the internal organization
  • Strength of convictions and ability to influence and champion product changes
  • Ability to effectively manage several dissimilar projects and prioritize
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
