Position Description:
POSITION PURPOSE
This position uses analytical methods and a variety of tools to understand, predict, improve and/or control payment acceptance related expenses and processes. Produce financial analysis and forecasts for use in the development of business decisions. Prepare and present insights based on analysis. Review and analyze the performance of Home Depot’s Private Label credit portfolios. Identify important financial trends and develop/implement strategies to ensure financial targets are achieved.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Planning & forecasting. Responsible for creating Bankcard, Private Label & Check acceptance related expense plans/forecasts and loading into financial systems. Assist management with the Strategic Planning Process. Manages relationship with Global FP&A.
  • In conjunction with banking partner and management, assist in evaluating key performance metrics of Home Depot’s Private Label credit portfolio. Critical metrics to be analyzed include finance charge yield, fee income, A/R turnover, delinquency and loss results, etc. Important financial trends will be identified quickly, and appropriate strategies will be developed / implemented to ensure financial targets are achieved.
  • Production of monthly and ad-hoc reporting typically focused on credit related performance versus plan and/or prior year, Private Label metrics and Cost of Acceptance reporting.
  • Acts as liaison between HD Financial Services and Accounting. Ensures accurate and timely recording of expenses related to Financial Services’ operations.
  • Provides support from a finance perspective to department leadership

NATURE AND SCOPE
  • Typically reports to Senior Manager.
  • Typically provides financial analysis and support to Directors & Sr. Managers within HD Financial Services (Marketing, Operations, Risk, Interchange and Treasury teams). This role may also provide financial support for external business partners (Accounting, HD.COM, Gift Card, Store Ops etc.).
  • No direct reports.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.


ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience:
5 years

Physical Requirements:

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in Finance and/or Accounting.
  • Experience with portfolio analysis in a Private Label Credit or Bankcard environment.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks. Some requests may have a sense of urgency.
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills a plus.
  • Ability to build SQL and mine data.
  • System knowledge of PR6, Teradata and SAS.
  • Must be a team player but also have the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
