Position Description:
POSITION PURPOSE
The Manager of Government Relations will be responsible for advancing The Home Depot's legislative agenda and of enhancing the PAC and grassroots program. The manager would attend coalition and lobbying meetings on top legislation priorities and prepare updates for internal business partners on legislative and regulatory development. The role will also be a strategic partner to the PAC director with program and execution.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • 20% - Work to advance the department's communications strategy by managing social media engagement and crafting compelling emails and other written materials
  • 20% - Help Home Depot employees "Make Their OrangeVoice Heard" through our award-winning grassroots website, OrangeVoice. Constantly improving our grassroots tools and outreach.
  • 20% - Attend hearing, coalition meetings, and lobbying meetings on top of legislative priorities, prepare regular updates for internal business partners on legislative and regulatory developments.
  • 15% - Act as a strategic partner to the PAC Director in the planning and execution of creative, targeted solicitations and events across the country with elected officials.
  • 15% - Manage, recommend and organize PAC contributions to the targeted Members and attend fundraising events ad needed
  • 10% - Assist with FEC reporting, and ensure compliance with all state, federal, and local election law
NATURE AND SCOPE
Typically reports to Sr. Manager, Political Programs

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Environment: Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Travel: Typically requires overnight travel 5%-20% of the time


ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Additional Minimum Qualifications:

Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
Years of Relevant Work Experience: 3 years
Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

  • 3-5 years experience working with or for a PAC or in government relations, campaigning or on Capitol Hill.
  • Consistent attention to detail.
  • Experience with DDC or other grassroots databases a plus.
  • Must possess superior written and oral communications skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills required.
  • Exceptional judgment and ability to function and multi-task under pressure.
  • PC skills, knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) Lotus Notes and Outlook.
