The Pharmacy Manager (PIC) will coordinate the opening of new facility, ensure regulatory requirements are met, inventory management, quality patient care, and hiring of pharmacy staff. They will direct, supervise and coordinate pharmacy services (including preparation and dispensing of sterile products, medications, supplies, and equipment, along with the provision of clinical pharmacy services) to customers and patients in accordance with established policies, procedures, laws and regulations that govern the practice of pharmacy. The Manager will collaborate with the Director Nursing, Intake Manager and Reimbursement Manager as an integral part of the location management team.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership and direction for all clinical and supportive pharmacy personnel as it relates to clinical pharmacy services, prescription dispensing, sterile product compounding, and inventory management  
  • Directs, supervises, and coordinates all pharmacy activities including medication preparation, sterile product preparation, prescription dispensing and clinical pharmacy services
  • Ensures that all pharmacy operations, practices and procedures meet all licensing and standards requirements established by local, state and federal agencies as well as accrediting bodies (e.g. TJC, URAC, DEA)
  • Ensures compliance with all controlled substance related rules, DEA and State regulations and company policies
  • Maintains clinical skills and knowledge of pharmacotherapy and intravenous therapy by reviewing current literature and attending in - services, seminars and conferences
  • Directly supervises the inventory specialist in the procurement and management of medications, supplies, and equipment used in preparing and administering medications
  • Provides orientation, training, and evaluation for pharmacy employees on pharmacy procedures and services
  • Ensures timely communication and coordination with other departments and staff
  • Participates in the preparation and achievement of the branch annual budget
  • Submits written justification for additional personnel, equipment, and programs
  • Participates in the Quality Management / Performance Improvement Program
    • Performs monthly clinical chart audits
    • Reviews data for quality / performance improvement measures
    • Analyzes data reports, identifying opportunities for improvement
    • Participates in corporate quality / performance meetings
    • Communicates quality activities and data review to branch personnel
    • Implements quality action plans
    • Evaluates results of action plans to achieve desired performance
  • Assumes the role of operational leader in the temporary absence of the General / Branch Manager
  • Develops and participates in company educational programs as requested
