The Corporate IS Department is seeking a dynamic and talented Manager-IS, Technology (Network).

The Manager- IS, Technology leads and manages the Network Engineering team which is responsible for contributing toward the design, architecture and support of WAN, LAN, VPN, Wireless, and other network technologies. These tasks include: the planning, specification, implementation, administration and maintenance of equipment for all the above responsibilities in the corporate office and remote sites.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Works with Assistant Director to supervise recruitment, development, retention, and organization of all technical staff in accordance with corporate budgetary objectives and personnel policies.
  • Actively participates in Information Services Management Team (ISMT) meetings.
  • Participates with other members of the ISMT on special projects and committees.
  • Provides supervisory guidance and leadership to all levels of staff as required.
  • Establishes and monitors standards of performance for staff.
  • Ensures that all work at the Network Services conforms to established UHS policies and procedures.
  • Assists with the development of UHS policies and procedures as appropriate and necessary.
  • Interviews applicants for vacant positions using appropriate interview techniques and makes sound selection decisions.
  • Ensures that new staff members receive a comprehensive orientation to the department and hospital requirements and environments.
  • Evaluates employee job performance according to established standards and performs employee evaluations in a timely and constructive fashion. 
  • Initiates reward or consulting actions as appropriate.
  • Focuses on staff development - both technical and professional development.
  • Keeps staff up-to-date and informed on new and revised IS Department policies and procedures.
  • Interacts with other members of the ISMT to ensure successful and smooth completion of projects.
  • Performs general supervisory and managerial functions, which include staffing, compensation / salary administration, performance assessment, employee development, employee discipline and employee communications and relations.
  • Participates in 24x7x365 on-call rotation for issue escalation and resolution.
Job Requirements

Position Requirements:

  • Excellent attention to detail, prioritization and self-managing skills
  • Demonstrated managerial, project leadership and supervisory skills in a technical environment.
  • Cisco CCNA / CCNP highly desired
  • 3-5 years of managing and leading a team of network professionals
  • Advanced knowledge of major package applications software
  • Possesses wide base of experience in many disciplines of information technology, including:
    • Data networks
    • Cisco technologies
    • Vendor management
    • Cisco Switch, Router, and Load Balancing Equipment
    • Cisco Pix Firewall, Cisco VPN Concentrator
    • SNMP network management, highly desirable
    • Routing protocols (OSPF, BGP-4, EIGRP, Etc...)
    • MPLS, WAN circuit experience is a must
    • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Project preferred
    • Wide breadth of hands-on networking and project management skills
    • Knowledge of Cisco ACS server and triple A (Authentication, Authorization and Access)
    • IP-4 / IP-6 knowledge is a plus
    • Knowledge of Unicast and Multicast is a plus
    • Knowledge of VPN tunneling and IPsec is a plus
    • Experience in WAN MPLS deployments a MUST
    • Experience with Bluecoat Packet shapers is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Technical documentation experience required
  • Excellent attention to detail, prioritization and self-managing skills
  • Experience working in a Hospital environment a plus

Travel Requirements: 10 % domestic US travel.
