What You'll Do

This is a people manager position for the Cisco Central Packaging Engineering Team. The team consists of Packaging Engineers who are responsible for specifying and managing all aspects of the global supply chain related to protective packaging for Cisco’s products from new product introduction (NPI) through our products’ end of life. In addition, the team has expanded to include a sustainability program manager who has specific focus on designing, implementing and program managing environmental sustainability solutions related to packaging.   The packaging team among other Cisco teams have been recognized by the EPA for significantly reducing Cisco’s carbon and waste footprint. 

The focus of this role is to drive the strategy and orchestrate execution for protective packaging solutions that improve customer experience, improve delivery quality, reduce NMS and packaging COGs costs, and environmental footprint

• Manage and coach a team of seasoned technical packaging professionals to maximize their effectiveness, collaboration and minimize their roadblocks to success

• Supervise high visibility executive and customer logistics damage escalations to ensure definitive root cause and corrective action where packaging design, quality programs, or product handling may be improved to improve the customer experience

• Define, prioritize, and measure top priority strategies and programs to improve customer experience, improve delivery quality, reduce cost and improve carbon footprint.

• Listen to customer (disti and end customer) expectations related to sustainable packaging, out of box experience, and quality to help advocate for their requirements cross-functionally and implement within the packaging engineering best practices.

• Evangelize and partner with Mechanical Engineering Designers, Engineering BUs Product Ops, Marketing and Cx to drive more efficient and robust product designs, packaging designs, and fulfillment solutions that improve customer experience

• Partner with GSM on packaging procurement strategy that ensures supply chain efficiency and supply continuity, and packaging quality management

• Set goals and manage metrics to report program success as well as identify opportunities for improvement

• Steward Cisco policies related to packaging design specifications, packaging workmanship and packaging material requirements, pertinent carton and pallet handling requirements, and environmental specifications.

Looking for an individual with commitment to excellence and interest in making a difference. Bachelor Degree in Packaging Engineering or equivalent is recommended. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Flexibility and ability to excel in a multicultural global work environment. Teamwork and commitment to making the whole team successful is a must. Full working knowledge of English language, both technical and business.
