What You'll Do The Technology and Quality organization is responsible for delivering customer-driven quality and reliability solutions and infrastructure for Cisco products.  It is committed to driving a competitive advantage for Cisco by ensuring innovation and excellence in manufacturing technology, test and component engineering, NPI, and closed-loop quality management. As a supply chain function, the Technology & Quality organization's vision is to provide Best-in-Class Component Quality, Reliability and Technology for Cisco's customers.    As a key member of the Optics team, the candidate will be responsible for assessing, developing and qualifying new suppliers and emerging technologies for next generation Optical Transceiver products.  Role & Responsibilities   -Assess technology maturity and supplier capabilities to provide technical recommendations. -Oversee Reliability qualification of optical components, subassemblies, and modules for transceiver programs.  -Manage Part Number Requests (PNRs), component change management (PCN/MCN), RoHS certifications, and other component qualification specific documentation activities.  -As technical point of contact- will be required to assess business impacting/critical issue and drive component failure analysis, containment and corrective actions.   Candidate will be experienced in optical transceiver design and manufacturing including optical and electrical interconnects, specialized PCBA component attachment quality requirements, semi-conductor manufacturing processes and reliability test methodologies for optical and opto-electronic devices.    Who You'll Work With Partner with global supply management teams to develop commodity strategy, supplier selection, and conduct supplier design and manufacturing process audits.   Who You Are Minimum Qualifications    MS (minimum) or PhD (preferred) in an engineering/technical discipline (Optical Engineering is highly preferred) with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in optics.     Desired Skills   - Experienced in optical Transceiver design and manufacturing processes  - Experience based knowledge of Optical Component-level Failure Analysis and manufacturing-related issues for optics and PCB assembly.  - Technical knowledge on optoelectronics and module assembly processes.  - Demonstrated ability working in cross-functional teams and with external suppliers/partners.  - Good communication, project management and influencing skills  - Experience and expertise with III-V technologies is highly desired  - Fluency in English and experience working for a global company.
