Position Description:

POSITION PURPOSE -

The Manager of Credit Services: Payments Process Improvement, will be responsible for continuous process improvement and risk mitigation in the customer payments lifecycle across all platforms (in-store and online) for key payment tenders including credit/debit cards, PayPal, gift cards, and check transactions. The manager will work cross-functionally to perform end-to-end process and system assessments to identify potential failure points, key process and key risk indicators, and process enhancement opportunities.  The manager will work closely with IT and key stakeholders to implement process enhancements, which may include system or process changes, enhanced testing scripts, new automated monitoring, and exception reporting.  The manager will also serve as a key consultant for payments initiatives to prevent the introduction of new risk exposures.

 

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -

Perform end-to-end payment process assessments to identify risk exposures. Manager will be responsible for prioritizing exposures, recommending remediation plans, and working cross-functionally to implement recommendations.

Maintaining robust process documentation including process flows, risks/controls, and SOPs

Manage ongoing transaction testing to identify new gaps, processing errors, compliance risks, and fraud exposures.

Work with IT and key business partners on initiatives to prevent introduction of new exposures to payment processes.

Develop executive level presentations summarizing key payment processes, exposures, and remediation roadmap.

 

NATURE AND SCOPE -

Typically reports to Senior Manager Credit Services

Accountable for direct supervision of the work activities of others. Planning, monitoring and reviewing work of subordinates is required. This may include direct supervision of a shift or the coordination of multiple work groups. Makes recommendations concerning selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.


ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 6 years

Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -

Previous internal audit, process improvement, or business consulting experience; MBA preferred.

Proficient in Microsoft Visio, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.

Experience in documenting business processes, identifying and evaluating risks/controls, and developing remediation plans.

Ability to effectively organize complex information into well-written documents such as executive presentations, technical requirements documents, and training manuals.

Ability to work cross-functionally and influence without direct authority.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES -

A thorough understanding and knowledge of the principles/disciplines of the retail industry.

A strong grasp of Project Management skills and requirements. Able to manage/coordinate multiple, simultaneous projects. Understands Time Management skills and uses those skills to deal with unplanned projects and interruptions. Both demonstrates and teaches those skills to direct reports. Demonstrated strong results in managed projects

Ability to leverage data and analysis to craft a well-thought story utilizing Power Point.

Able to think strategically about business problems and opportunities and to focus efforts on projects that most closely support key company initiatives.

Very strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Demonstrated decisiveness and sound decision making skills.
