JOB DESCRIPTION:

The role of the Operations Support-Recon Manager is to support and help the locations in the daily operations and efficiencies to ensure they are trained and following standard operating procedures and best practices necessary to meet the key performance indicators.

A Manager of Operations Support – Recon is responsible for the planning, process implementation, execution, coaching, interaction with technology, labor management, work flow tools, and support of shop operations that could include paint and body shop, detail shop, mechanic shop, arbitration, CR/inspections, lot ops and elements of inventory management.

This position will drive the focus on standardized deployment of operational processes, tools, equipment, materials and procedures to reduce process variation at our operating locations leading to improved effectiveness, client experience, team member engagement, and efficiency. This position will be the “change agent” link between the operating locations and corporate management and will also be responsible for change readiness, implementation, support, and compliance.

In addition, this position will work directly with field and/or regional level management, guiding coalition teams, special ops teams, and other project charged groups in support of the operating locations to ensure the operational readiness and company-wide implementation of all new products and processes.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Build and sustain relationships with auction, field and regional teams. This is to include the Regional Management partners and teams, Auction General Manager, Assistant General Manager, Front Line Department Managers and team members.
• Manages a team of functional area onsite resources geographically positioned to include team member engagement, auction and team member project readiness, playbook onboarding, coaching, skill development, end to end deployment support and adherence to performance management metrics and score
• Enforces adoption of project standards, supporting documentation, playbooks, and metrics
• Supports and audits auction readiness assessment surveys, both initial project and ongoing compliance.
• Enthusiastically promote, communicate and champion identified change management, project adoption,
SOP practices, communities of practice, and continuous improvement culture across operating unit.
• Evaluate and monitor Manheim’s overall Mechanic, P&B, Detail Shop, PSI Financials, and operating metrics throughout the year against KPI and other measures. Establish priorities and specific support strategies required to meet those goals
• Evaluate on-site operations, assess staffing levels, review work volumes, plan and continuously monitor to ensure efficiency, quality work product, equipment, materials, capacity, productivity, review work volumes and effective customer service.
• Partner with Regional and Auction Management to develop, execute and implement strategies to improve shop operational and financial results
• Develop, maintain and support implementation of standard operating procedures (SOP) and best practices for Manheim’s Shops
• Leverage expertise with outside vendors to drive innovation and shop processes as well as deploy initiatives, products, and services
• Lead shop vendor and supplier support (SME) for Manheim/Cox Supply Chain Management Mechanic, Detail and P&B Shop related activities
• Coordinate deployment support and sustainability of new tools and tool upgrades in cooperation with Operational Excellence and partners
• Work directly with auction management to support the awareness and guide implementation of new products and services
• Assist in the implementation of new business practices and partner with National Account Managers to ensure client program objectives are met.
• Provide leadership that fully aligns with operational senior leadership, operational support teams and other departments to meet strategic objectives.
• Approves and enforces the improvement plans developed by deployment team Managers for lower performing and gap identified locations as needed
• Partner in development with Regional Ops and Auction Management for designated “Centers of Excellence” for each region and for all shop areas within scope related to project change management, training, coaching, SOP, Communities of Practice and adoption
• Work to build auction engagement, adherence to best practice in simplified user functionality, and continuous improvements based on location feedback.
• Coordinate peer to peer support between other departments locations as necessary
• Overall management for gathering requirements for enhancements and future operational solutions and tools.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

• College degree or equivalent experience preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive product/project management, site operations management, or related automotive site operations
• 3 to 5 years of relevant operating experience at the auction level or equivalent
• 5 years of management experience is preferred with excellent management skills and the ability to promote a team environment
• Five (5) + years of relevant operating experience at the auction level or equivalent
• Five (5) + years of management experience required with excellent management skills and the ability to promote a team environment
• Experience at operational project deployment
• Experience with business support software applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) required
• Demonstrated experience in organizing, prioritizing, and coordinating complex team efforts
• Possess a solid understanding of the wholesale automotive industry, i.e., industry structures, key players, competitive dynamics, technological underpinnings
• Possess ability to develop and present high level presentations to Corporate and Auction Management on Inspection Related Projects and Goals
• Possess ability to manage groups of high level managers across a nationwide geographic basis
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in an automotive reconditioning shop, product/project management, site operations management, or related automotive site operations, etc.
• Excellent people, teamwork, and customer service skills
• Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to multitask successfully
• Ability to travel 75%
