Job Details

The Manager, Pension Investments will be expected to manage all aspects of portfolio analysis and reporting in terms of funded status, surplus volatility, portfolio volatility, performance attribution, and investment characteristics and exposures. The candidate will be expected to manage the pension's investment and risk management tools as well as the outputs as part of an LDI framework. Finally, the candidate will assist the US and International Pensions on decisions being made to the equity, fixed income and alternatives portfolios for Pfizer's global defined benefit plans.

The Manager, Pension Investments primary responsibility will be developing, maintaining and producing a variety of performance, exposure, attribution and risk reports on the US defined benefits plan's assets and liabilities utilizing Excel, Barra, eVestment and Bloomberg.

The selected candidate will assist the Senior Manager in overseeing the global public equity and fixed income investments within Pfizer's US benefit and contribution plans, including the asset allocation, investment implementation, selection, monitoring and, when necessary, termination of external investment managers. Additionally, reports on the characteristics, volatility, performance and attribution of the portfolios on an ad hoc basis will be expected of the candidate.

This role will also collaborate closely with other members of the investment team in researching, analyzing, developing, and

executing investment strategies across the broader pension portfolio, including strategies in the area of asset-liability


Prepare the monthly and quarterly Plan Assets Committee materials for both plans and present to the PAC and senior management providing an update and review on the portfolio's asset allocation, funded status, performance, attribution, the capital markets and projects being undertaken. Work as a team player, communicate effectively and co-ordinate projects and meetings with internal and external resources including external investment managers, trustees and actuaries.

Responsibility for the portfolio management tools vendor relationships and providing them with monthly data needed for Total Portfolio risk and liability reports.

Maintain and update database of all manager meetings and conferences for the defined benefit and contribution plans. Upload and save all reports and presentations received from service providers and investment managers.

+ BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering or similar quantitative field; MBA/CFA preferred

+ Minimum of 3-5 years' experience within an investment management organization

+ Strong leadership experience and ability to articulate complex topics in a manner well understood by senior leadership

+ Key attributes include strong quantitative , analytical & interpersonal skills, detail-oriented individual with intense focus on performance, delivery of Right-First-Time results, and ability to be an integral part of a team

+ Serve as voice of Pfizer at external industry conferences

+ Excellent written and oral communication skills

+ Proficiency in Excel (modeling experience required), Word and PowerPoint , Risk Management applications required.

Comprehensive understanding of capital markets, various asset classes (eg. Fixed Income, Equities) and defined benefit pension and contribution plans.
