Description:

The Human Resources Services & Operations team is responsible for the operations, systems, and reporting foundations that support and advance the goals of Prudential’s Businesses and Corporate HR functions.  The Vendor Governance team within Human Resources plays a critical role in working with strategic third party providers, assessing vendor risks and controls, and providing a framework for highly effective governance at all stages of the vendor life cycle.

 

The Manager will help manage the vendor governance programs and ensure robust due diligence reviews and ongoing monitoring processes are practiced for a portfolio of vendors that support Corporate HR operations.  By collaborating closely with business leaders, external providers, and internal cross-functional groups such as information technology, privacy and risk management, the vendor governance team helps enable and advance department objectives by ensuring an appropriate balance between meeting business needs, protecting the Company, and promoting high internal quality standards and controls for vendor relationships.  As necessitated from time to time by evolving business needs, this individual may also lead or contribute to special projects and change initiatives that support key focus areas.

 Responsibilities:

  • In partnership with business owners, plan and execute due diligence reviews and ongoing monitoring activities for new and existing vendors, proactively analyze and assess risks and controls, and manage open issues to closure.

  • Plan and conduct periodic site visits to key vendors using a risk based approach, and report on overall outcomes.

  • Maintain vendor monitoring plans and other centralized vendor documentation to facilitate analysis, cross-functional information sharing, and reporting across the full inventory of third party relationships.

  • Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of enterprise policies and standards related to third party risk management.

  • Manage and continually enhance the Corporate HR Vendor Governance Program and associated processes and tools based on leading practices and evolving internal and external requirements.

  • Produce periodic management reports summarizing key governance results for high risk vendors, including analysis on emerging issues, and targeted updates for senior leaders.

  • Maintain strong, collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders across the business functions and corporate areas involved in vendor governance related efforts and communicate third party information across the organizational lines where beneficial to the enterprise.

  • Provide consulting, guidance, and education on vendor governance subject matter and risk mitigation approaches throughout the vendor lifecycle to business owners and other key stakeholders.

  • Provides oversight on vendor governance awareness and training to ensure sound program practices.

  • Lead and/or contribute to special projects and initiatives such as program enhancements process improvements, enterprise level working teams, and ad hoc requests.  Oversee implementation of changes as needed.


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college / university
  • Minimum 5 years of vendor governance work experience in a large corporate environment; proven business experience in managing vendor risk, including conducting vendor due diligence, vendor site visits, vendor control reviews, and ongoing vendor monitoring
  • Experience in consulting, third party risk management, or related control discipline such as audit, privacy or information security a plus
  • Financial Services industry experience and knowledge of Human Resources functions and processes a plus
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills with ability to organize and gather facts, navigate through ambiguous or complex issues, draw conclusions, and influence desired outcomes
  • Clear and concise oral and written communication skills; ability to lead meetings and tailor messages to various audiences.
  • Able to manage collaborative relationships with a broad set of stakeholders
  • Strong capability in planning and managing a wide variety of initiatives and concurrent priorities to produce high quality deliverables within established timelines
  • Results oriented self-starter, with ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast paced environment
  • High degree of proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project and Visio
  • Overtime may be required during busy periods
  • Approximately 10% travel in North America required for vendor site visits or related meetings
