What You'll Do
This person will be working as an engineer in an Environmental and Safety lab, testing Cisco equipment to mechanical and electrical requirements.  This person will be responsible for operating all types of Cisco products for testing, maintaining and troubleshooting to mechanical and electrical requirements.

Works on complex problems with little supervision.  Exercises judgment within generally defined policies and procedures in developing methods for obtaining solutions. Have excellent understanding and/or application of principles, theories, and techniques of testing Cisco products in the NEBS disciplines. Normally works with little supervision and receives general instructions on new assignments

 

 

Who You’ll Work With

The Compliance & Certifications group establishes and maintains policies that affect EMC, Environmental, Safety and other compliance disciplines.  This group is responsible for testing under various accreditation programs and obtaining compliance approvals to enable products to be shipped worldwide.  As part of the CC team, you will work with various Cisco design teams, manufacturing teams, suppliers, external safety agencies and A2LA.  You will work with products such as Enterprise Network Compute System, Integrated Services Routers and Wireless Access Points.

 

Who You Are

Education:  Typically requires BSEE, BSME or BSIT plus 2-5+ yrs related experience.

Skills Required:  This person must have knowledge of environmental/mechanical or product safety testing.  Also must have excellent communication and writing skills.

Job description:

A)   Support NEBS and ETSI tests requirements on various Cisco products.

B)   Perform mechanical design verification testing and package design testing.

C)    Test equipment that will be operated is the following: shock, drop and vibration tables, temperature/altitude chambers, overvoltage fixture and short circuit testing.

D)    Ensure operation of Cisco products while performing tests.

E)     This testing will entail some physical activity

F)     Compilation and preparation of data sheets

G)    Write formal test reports

H)    Knowledge of Cisco products is a plus but not mandatory. 

I)      Knowledge on NEBS requirements is a plus but not mandatory 

J)      Skills should also include team player mentality and self-starter.

K)    Skills with hand tools
