Parkwood Behavioral Health System has provided behavioral health and chemical dependency services to the Mid-South region since 1987. We are located in DeSoto County, in the uppermost northwest corner of Mississippi and approximately 7 miles south of Memphis.

Parkwood Behavioral Health System includes a 148-bed inpatient acute and residential care facility, as well as partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs.

Medical Records Manager

We are currently seeking a full-time Medical Records Manager.  The Medical Records Manager plans and manages the activities of the department in compliance with hospital, state, federal and other accrediting and regulating agency requirements.  The Medical Records Manager analyzes the quality of the medical records to ensure inclusion and completion of required information needed to facilitate reimbursement and assure continuity of patient care and provides expert consultative services to hospital staff regarding medical records.  The Medical Records Manager coordinates the Medical Record/Utilization Review Committee and presents statistical reports on a regular and as-needed basis.  The Medical Records Manager functions in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Parkwood Behavioral Health System.

Job Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description.  The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. 

Education:   Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management preferred; AS/RHIT acceptable

Experience:    2 years supervisory experience in Health Information Management field.  Prior experience in a psychiatric mental health setting preferred.

Licensure/Certification:  Registered Record Administrator (RHIA) credentials preferred.

Knowledge:  Prefer knowledge of health information management and healthcare delivery systems, medical and psychiatric terminology, confidentiality and HIPAA/release of information laws, leadership skills and various computer and word processing programs.

Supervision Received:   Director of Risk Management and Quality Improvement

Supervision Exercised:   Medical Records Coders/Clerks

In absence of these qualifications upon hire, must demonstrate ability to learn these concepts and develop these skills within reasonable time frame via the organization’s orientation and training program.
