The Medical Systems Engineering Technologist performs evaluations, repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance on devices used in the care and treatment of patients at UHS facilities, affiliates, and other institutions that have UHS relationships either owned or contractual. In this role, you will ensure that all patients receive the safest and best possible experience while at the facilities serviced by the UHS HTM Program. The candidate will deliver exceptional customer service to patients, physicians, nurses, technicians, administrators and all persons who are contacted during the course of their service. The Medical Systems Engineering Technologist delivers service that meets and exceeds all applicable regulatory requirements and compliance, assists UHS HTM leadership with developing and strengthening facility and vendor relationships, and executes and meets all requirements of the established key performance indicators (KPI’s). This opportunity offers the following: • Challenging and rewarding work environment • Competitive compensation • Excellent medical, dental vision and prescription plan • Generous paid time off Essential Job Duties: • Routinely manages the corrective and preventive maintenance of devices as assigned as well as follow-up communications on this work and any other assigned responsibilities. • Documents and maintains records of all work activities in the computerized maintenance management (CMMS) software. • Understands and properly operates all test equipment required for the repair and maintenance of devices in the HTM Program. Pulls and terminates cabling including fiber optic cabling. • Coordinates the ordering of replacement parts and/or service on devices, and ensures replacement parts/services are delivered and with accurate invoicing. Ensures all exchange parts ordered are returned for proper credit within the time frame specified. • Understands and meets or exceeds all regulatory requirements, and follows all pertinent corporate and local policies and procedures. • Participates in and/or facilitates in-service education to device users, while providing cross-training/education to other HTM team members, and participating in continuing education. • Travels to other sites from primary location as directed/needed. • Participates in on-call schedule/rotation as directed. • Provides reporting through the use of the CMMS database. • Develops dashboards and components as directed by UHS HTM and facility leadership. • Develops and/or customizes CMMS reports necessary for all HTM operations. • Works with HTM Leadership, and facility leadership/coworkers to effectively manage the HTM program to deliver the results and achieve expectations for program excellence, while developing and sustaining vendor relationships. • Works with the assigned UHS facilities to develop, maintain and sustain a 5-year capital plan for devices included in the CMMS database. • Facilitates device evaluations, as assigned, for medical devices. • Assists UHS HTM leadership with identifying and suggesting devices for device acquisition and/or replacement. Job Requirements: Job Requirements: • This position requires a Professional Certification or Technical School/Associate’s Degree, and from 1 to 3 years of related experience, while a Bachelor’s degree is preferred. • Experience with healthcare technology management programs. • Medical equipment knowledge (manufacturers, models, modalities, capital planning, etc.). • May require ACI Certification (CBET, CRES, CLES or CHTM). • May require skill set of advanced modality HTM expertise such as clinical laboratory, medical imaging, radiation/oncology, real-time location systems, alarm management middleware or high-end biomedical devices such as device integration/networking, and catheterization lab/electrophysiology monitoring systems. • Understanding of regulatory requirements for medical devices (CMS, TJC, CLIA, AABB, NRC,State, Local). • Strong computer skills (proficient with Microsoft products), experience with CMMS products. • Strong planning and organization skills. Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills. Travel Requirements: Travel will be required periodically. Job Requirements

Education:
An Associates degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology or degree in electronic engineering technology and related experience in repairs and troubleshooting of medical equipment or equivalent military or technical training.

Experience:       
One to three years experience working in hospital Biomedical/Clinical Engineering department

Technical Skills:
Understanding of regulatory requirements of medical devices (CMS, TJC, CLIA, AABB, NRC, State, Local)

Other:
Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care/service appropriate to the age of the patient.
