The Member Advocacy Administrator is located in Arizona and is experienced in working with individuals including members with special healthcare needs, families, youth, advocates and key stakeholders. The Member Advocacy Administrator shall ensure that staff members directly reporting to this position are involved in community events.

 

The position serves as the point of contact within the organization and in the community on behalf of members and family members. This position works closely with other member support areas, including but not limited to the Behavioral Health, Member Services, and Provider Services.

 

There will be responsibility for program planning and development, implementing, managing and coordinating services according to state contract requirements.

 

This position is located on-site at 1 East Washington Street in Phoenix, AZ and will require the ability to travel up to 70% of the time within the state.



Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform oversight of the organization’s behavioral health advocacy program
  • Communicate and disseminate information to members and families to identify concerns and remove barriers that affect service delivery or member satisfaction
  • Collaborate with the organization’s other member support areas, including but not limited to Individual and Family Affairs, Member Services and Provider Services
  • Collaborate with the AHCCCS Human Rights Committee (HRC) Coordinator
  • Provide information to regional HRCs and attend HRC meetings
  • Set team direction, resolve problems and provides guidance to members of own team
  • Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and regulatory requirements
  • May lead functional or segment teams or projects
  • Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address business and operational challenges
  • Represents the department in assigned Plan committees/meetings
  • Assists with program improvement projects
  • Monitor quality of care issues according to Plan UM/QA policy and procedures
  • Works closely with Business Partners to ensure regulatory compliance is met
  • Assists with program improvement projects and complex conceptual analyses
  • Prepare regulatory reports as required
  • Complete special projects as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • 5+ years of team lead, supervisory, and/or management experience
  • 5+ years of Behavioral Health experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Experience in a deadline driven environment
  • Experience interacting with individuals at various levels in a health care/managed care setting.
  • Experience developing and presenting complex or technical information both written and verbally
  • Experience leading and coaching team members
  • Must be able to travel 70% of the time within the state

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in the Arizona Behavioral Health system
