The Brook Hospital-KMI currently seeking PRN Mental Health Associates to work varied shifts on all units and patient populations. The PRN rate for this position is $10.50 hourly and not based on experience. The Brook Hospital KMI treats both Adolescent and Adult psychiatric and addiction services patients. The candidate selected will be responsible for the following:

The Mental Health Associate assists patients in activities of daily living, measures patients' general physical condition, and leads educational discussions. Observes and reports patients' behavior patterns and intervenes by verbal or physical means as required. The Mental Health Associate also maintains the therapeutic milieu (the physical or social setting in which something occurs or develops) that is conducive to quality patient care. The Mental Health Associate conducts activities in accordance with patient diagnosis and needs.



The Mental Health Associate has the following requirements

Communicates patients’ needs.
Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs).
Monitors and documents patient’s behaviors every 15 minutes
Assists in placing patients in seclusion or restraints.
Takes and records temp, B/P, pulse, weight, and respiratory rates.
Ability to teach.
Critical thinking and problem solving skills a must to perform this job.
Excellent communication skills.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
Experience working as a Mental Health Associate in a behavioral health setting is preferred.
