Chicago Children's Center for Behavioral Health is a Joint Commission approved and state licensed facility focused on short-term crisis stabilization programs. We provide education services, comprehensive Activity Therapy, Art Therapy, and Dance Movement Therapy while utilizing a holistic treatment approach. Chicago Children's Center for Behavioral Health is seeking experienced Mental Health Technicians to work in our inpatient units with children and adolescents Full Time Pm shift. The Primary Responsibilities are as follows:  Assist in providing a safe therapeutic environment.  Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse including patient vital signs, assistance with head to toe assessments and proper clinical documentation.  Maintain a safe and therapeutic milieu including crisis intervention and Q-15 observation rounds.  Assure compliance with applicable laws pertaining to psychiatric treatments. Maintain all patient health data and records. Below is a list of knowledge, and skills needed to successfully work as a Mental Health Counselor. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:  Knowledge of code procedures.  Knowledge of the federal, state and local laws that pertain to inquires right to privacy and confidentiality.  Knowledge of legal obligations for reporting abuse and/or neglect. Knowledge of clinical and age appropriate behaviors. Knowledge of individual and group therapy techniques. Knowledge of crisis intervention procedures . Knowledge of trauma informed care. Skill in organizing and prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines. Skill in telephone etiquette and paging procedures. Effective oral and written communication skills. Excellent time management skills. Strong customer service skills. Ability to adhere to safety policies and procedures. Ability to work as a team player. Ability to demonstrate tact, resourcefulness, patience and dedication. Ability to accept direction and adhere to policies and procedures. Ability to understand levels of crisis. Ability to tolerate ambiguity, uncertainty and change.  Ability to use effective judgment and maintain confidentiality of information.  Ability to recognize the importance of adapting to the various consumer age groups (adolescent and children). Ability to set limits with consumers to effectively ensure safety/structure in milieu.

Job Requirements

 Bachelor's degree in a related mental health field is required.  Acute inpatient experience working with children and/or adolescents strongly prefer.

CPR certification required.
