As a subsidiary of UHS, Windsor Laurelwood Center in Willoughby, OH is seeking a dynamic and talented full time Mental Health IOP Counselor (32 hours per week).

At the Windsor-Laurelwood Center for Behavioral Medicine, we work together to provide the skill development, medication and therapies that individuals need to rebuild their lives.

The IOP Therapist has primary responsibility for the day to day operations of the Adult Mental Health IOP program.  The therapist is responsible for assessing the patient’s appropriateness for the IOP level of care in conjunction with Access or inpatient team, orienting the patient to the program, and developing the individualized treatment plan prior to patient enrollment in the program.   This includes verification of insurance benefits and authorization for sessions, and maintaining ongoing contact with the Utilization Review Department regarding continued care.  The therapist conducts group therapy sessions using a variety of therapeutic skills, modalities, and interventions.  Throughout the course of treatment, the therapist monitors the patient’s progress and provides additional individual and family interventions as needed.  The therapist revises the treatment plan as necessary and conducts case management activities to support the patient in meeting goals, and develops an appropriate discharge plan with the patient.  At the point of discharge, the IOP therapist is responsible for conveying necessary written and /or verbal information to the next provider to assure continuity and smooth transition.

Job Requirements


Education:  Master’s Degree in behavioral health field required. 


Licensure: Active and unrestricted Ohio social work or counselor licensure (PC, LSW).  Independent licensure preferred (PCC, LISW).


Experience:  A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a mental health treatment setting is preferred.  Experience with chemical dependency is desirable.


Additional Requirements:   Completion of hospital orientation program, including non-violent crisis intervention and CPR is required prior to accepting independent assignment.
