Job Description


Position Overview

Provides patient care. Ensures safety and well-being of patients. Provides responsive customer service.


Job Functions

  • Ensure you are consistent in your supervision of the clients/residents. 

  • Assess escalating client behaviors by responding appropriately and in a timely manner. 

  • Conduct groups according to facility guidelines (measurable goals, specific plan, completion of daily tasks, etc.).

  • Respond immediately and participate as directed in a “code” (emergency situation).

  • Ensure your documentation and designated duties are completed prior to the end of your shift.

  • Assist with resident transports.

  • Ensure your mandatory training requirements are up to date. 

  • Work and concentrate amidst distractions such as noise, conversation and foot traffic, handle interruptions often and be able to move from one task to another.

Job Requirements



  • Psychology (or related field) and Nursing students who have completed their 1st semester are HIGHLY encouraged to apply.

  • High school diploma or GED minimum required.

  • Valid SC Driver’s License.

  • Minimum of 1 year of direct care experience &/or training working with adolescents and children in a residential/educational/juvenile setting OR two years related experience and/or training combined.


Other Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Flexible and not easily frustrated in dealing with differences of opinions.

  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, and be able to perceive the attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature, and/or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of the fingertips.

  • Ability to express and exchange ideas via spoken word during activities in which they must convey detail or important spoken instructions to others accurately, sometimes quickly and loudly.

  • Hearing to perceive the nature of sound with no less than 40 db loss @Hz. And 2000 Hz with or without correction.

  • Ability to perceive detail information through oral communication and to make fine discrimination in sound.

  • Work requires a minimum standard of visual acuity with or without correction that will enable people in the role to complete administrative and clerical tasks and visually observe patients on the unit and in therapeutic activities.
