Job Description

Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center (PSBHC) is an intensive inpatient psychiatric program for males and females, ages 5 – 17 years old.  We offer a highly structured supportive and safe environment for children and adolescents who are experiencing behavioral, emotional, family, and social challenges.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
The Mental Health Technician performs direct patient care duties in a residential behavioral health setting. The Mental Health Technician is responsible for supervising the patient in treatment, recreation, educational settings, and other activities of daily living to assess changes in their social behaviors and clinical status.

Job Requirements

Education:  College Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or similar field.   High School Diploma, GED or equivalent with 2 years experience working in a psychiatric facility may substitute for the college degree.

Experience:   Desire and patience to work with psychiatric and/or adolescent/children.

Additional Requirements: 

Must be able to pass a Level 2 Background Screening and Pre-employment Drug Test.

Successful completion of CPR Certification and successful completion of Handle with Care prior to assisting with a restraining procedure and within 7 days of employment.

Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Physical agility to manage patients. Push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stooping.
