Dover Behavioral Health is a mental health facility located in Dover, DE. Our treatment center provides mental health and addiction treatment services to individuals from Delaware, Maryland, and most other states throughout the US. Dover Behavioral Health System is seeking dynamic and talented Mental Health Technicians to join its growing hospital! At DBH, our Mental Health Technicians are committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate, and therapeutic patient care making us a great place to work!

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Monitor unit patients and complete rounds as assigned and within departmental guidelines.
  • Participate in treatment planning by helping to identify patients’ problems, needs and strengths. Report all areas of concern regarding patient’s mental or physical status to the Charge Nurse
  • Assist in the admission process, including obtaining vital signs, safety search of patients and personal belongings, obtaining urine specimens and orienting new patients to the unit and their program
  • Ensure precaution protocols are followed and encourage patients to actively participate in all program activities
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver group therapy programs for patients
  • Manage the unit milieu to maintain a therapeutic and safe environment
  • Accompany patients as assigned by Charge Nurse
  • Maintain patient, program, department and related documentation ensuring that forms are properly and promptly completed and routed
  • Participate in hospital emergency codes necessary to the unit’s and the hospital’s safe operation
  • Provide general nursing assistance, appropriate to patients’ age and as assigned and supervised by Charge Nurse
  • Monitor vital signs and assist patients with activities of daily living

Job Requirements

Minimum of High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of 6 months’ work experience in a healthcare setting required; Associates’ Degree or higher and mental health work experience strongly preferred.
