Position Summary:
Parkwood Behavioral Health System has provided behavioral health and chemical dependency services to the Mid-South region since 1987. We are located in DeSoto County, in the uppermost northwest corner of Mississippi and approximately 7 miles south of Memphis.

Parkwood Behavioral Health System includes a 148-bed inpatient acute and residential care facility, as well as partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs.

Mental Health Technician

Parkwood Behavioral Health System is currently seeking a Mental Health Technician to provide direct patient care under the supervision of the charge nurse. Responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention and assistance with activities of daily living. The Mental Health Technician must demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to units providing care to varied populations including male and female children, adolescents and adults as well as dually diagnosed adults.

Requirements

Experience: One (1) year prior psychiatric/social service experience preferred.

Knowledge: Prefer knowledge of human behavior or principles of psychology preferred including therapeutic relationships and processes, age specific growth and & development, limit setting and crisis and behavior management.

Supervision Received: Charge Nurse, Nurse Supervisor and Director of Nursing Services.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor degree in health or human services preferred
