Brooke Glen Behavioral Hospital (BGBH), a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), is located on an 11-acre campus in picturesque Fort Washington, Pa., a small suburban town of Philadelphia. Our 146-bed facility provides a safe and comfortable environment for patients suffering from mental illness and behavioral disorders.

The Mental Health Technician functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interactions, and role modeling to patients ranging in age from preschool through geriatrics depending on which unit worked. Mental Health Technicians work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Job Requirements

Education/Experience:  Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited program  which may include, but is not  limited to the following:  sociology, political science, counseling, criminal justice, pastoral counseling, elementary/special education or family therapy, and, a minimum of one (1) year direct care experience or supervised practice in lieu of the experience requirement.

 

OR

 

Two (2) years direct care experience and high school diploma (or equivalency) plus twelve (12) semester credit hours from an approved educational program.

 

Additional Requirements:  Successful completion of all credentialing requirements including but not limited to education and credentialing within 30 days from date of hire.  CPR/AED certification and successful completion of Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) required. Must possess good verbal and written communication skills. May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.
