Job Description

Mental Health Worker – Full Time – Day/Evening Float

Arbour-HRI Hospital is seeking a full-time, Day/Evening Float Mental Health Worker. Full-time Mental Health Workers are scheduled to work 32 hours per week and are required to work every other weekend. This is a day/evening shift float position. The Mental Health Worker who occupies this position will be scheduled for shifts based on preference and hospital need, and needs to be available to work both day and evening shifts. The day shift is 7am – 3:30pm, and the evening shift is 3:00pm – 11:30pm. Individuals applying for this position must be able to commit to a week and a half long, 9am to 5pm, orientation.

As a Mental Health Worker, you will:                 

  • Monitor patient safety
  • Assist nursing staff with patient treatment procedures
  • Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment
  • Provide routine patient care as required in a psychiatric environment
  • Document and communicate unusual or erratic changes in client behaviors
  • Assist with patient groups and activities
Job Requirements


  • High School diploma required; Bachelor’s degree is human services related field preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Physical Fitness – Must be able to lift 50lbs
  • Must be comfortable working with patient in acute psychiatric distress
